Matt and his wife lived in the country. One day a fair_came to the nearby town.

"Let's go to the fair, Matt." his wife said. "We didn't go anywhere for a long time."

Matt thought about this for a while. He knew he would have to spend money at the fair. At last he said, "All right, but I'm not going to spend much money."

They went to the fair and looked at all the things. There were many things Matt's wife wanted to buy, but he would not let her spend any money.

Then, they saw a small airplane.

"Fun flights!" the notice said." $10 for 10 minutes."

Matt had never been in an airplane and he wanted to go on a fun flight. However, he didn't want to pay for his wife. "I've only got $10," he told the pilot. "Can my wife come with me for free?" The pilot wasn't selling many tickets, so he said, "I'll make a bargain (协议) with you. If your wife doesn't scream (尖叫) or shout, she can have a free flight." Matt agreed, and got into the small airplane with his wife.

The pilot took off and made his airplane do all kinds of things. At one moment it was flying upside down. When the plane landed, the pilot said, "OK, your wife didn't make a sound. She can have her ride free."

"Thank you," Matt said. "It wasn't easy for her, you know, especially when she fell out."

When I was eight years old，my family moved from Edinburgh to London because my father started a new job here. The new place was far away from my grandmother，so we sometimes spent a couple of hours driving to Edinburgh to visit her when we missed her terribly. Her house was hundreds of miles away but the trip was never boring. 

Grandma never had much. She didn't have expensive things，or live in a nice house. But I could feel with my heart that she loved us deeply，especially when my world was turned upside down two years later. Grandma knew that my mother and father divorced and I lived with my father. I would actually like to live with my mother. 

I still remember those little things. Grandma allowed me to sit on the top of her kitchen table，getting me to dip（蘸）my fingers in the sugar bowl or drink from her coffee cup. Grandma had a beautiful bottle high on a shelf. One day after her death，I received a box. To my surprise，I found the bottle inside. She remembered once I had asked her for it. 

Grandma saved her pennies in a glass jar（罐）. She could have used those pennies herself but she kept them for my brother Tommie and me. And I was always excited to divide the pennies between my brother and me. "One for you，one for me. " I would repeat until the jar was empty. I don't remember how much we got on our visits，but I know that's how she loved us and cared about us when we were far away from her. So if I am lucky enough to find a penny lying on the ground one day. I am sure it is just the one from Grandma in heaven（天堂）. 

Those childhood memories have never gone away from me. Instead，they still give me great feelings through the years. A Grandma's love stays with a grandchild as long as he needs it. You know，love is just like that. 

Even though African elephants are protected, many of them are still being killed for their ivory.

At the end of the 1970s, over 1.3 million elephants walked around Africa, but today, their numbers have fallen to around 450,000. This is mainly caused by illegal(非法的) hunting for ivory. Need for ivory in markets, especially in Asia and Africa, continues to push the illegal trade. This has resulted in the deaths of at least 20,000 African elephants each year.

Ivory, also known as "white gold", has long been considered valuable. Its unusual look has led to its use in lots of expensive things, including jewellery, musical instruments and art. And the ivory material itself can stand the test of time. So many people are willing to pay a high price for ivory products.

However, no matter how much real ivory is sold for, it's certainly not worth the harm to elephants. That's why some scientists are working to achieve the same beauty of ivory without killing any animals.

Thaddaa Rath and her team at the University of Vienna have created the ivory called "Digory". The high-tech ivory is made from synthetic resin(合成树脂) and calcium phosphate particles(磷酸钙颗粒). It's first formed into the shape by a 3D printer. And then it is color-matched and colored. Next, it is polished(抛光) to make it look like real natural ivory.

Although Digory looks so real that it is hard to tell it from real ivory, its chemical structure is completely different from that of the real one. Fritz Vollrath, a biologist who is against killing elephants for ivory, felt excited about the invention and spoke highly of it for the fact that Digory could save many elephants from risks. Scientists have made some achievements, but we still need to do more research to make sure that it is widely used. It's still hopeful that scientists can be able to protect African elephants by making high-tech materials to take the place of the real ivory.

Mary lives on a farm.She likes animals very much.There are six sheep,three horses and ten chickens on her farm.

One day,Lisa,Mary's friend,goes to visit Mary."I have a white rabbit,"Lisa says."It is from my cousin Jack.But I can't find a nice home for it to live in.Can you give me some ideas(主意)?"

"Yes,"Mary says."You can bring(带来) your rabbit here.I think it will be happy to live on my farm.And you can come to take care of(照顾) the rabbit at any time."

Lisa is very happy to hear that.The next day,Lisa takes her rabbit to Mary's farm.And the two girls give the rabbit a name—Bubbles.Now,Bubbles has a nice new home.It lives on the farm happily.

 Shang Qinjie, also known as the modern"Shenbi Maliang", has helped his hometown out of poor conditions with his paintbrush.

 Shang Qinjie has been engaged(从事) in art-related work in the city since graduation(毕业). During the 

Spring Festival in 2020, Shang Qinjie began to paint on a few walls in his hometown, Xiaotun village. This made his village colorful and was liked by many villagers.

 Later, more works were painted, although painting on walls was a tough task. Shang started painting at 8 o' clock in the morning and continued until the sun went down. Usually it took seven or eight days to complete a whole painting. But when he saw more and more people come here to enjoy his paintings, he felt very happy. He liked painting some cartoon characters such as Nezha and Sun Wukong, because he thought those characters could give people power. As his works became popular on the Internet, Xiaotun village also became a popular travel place. Villagers there didn't go out to work anymore. They improved their living conditions by selling local products (产品). Shang Qinjie also realized painting in the village was very meaningful. So he will continue creating art in his hometown.

 Shang Qinjie's story is just one example of how young people are changing their hometowns. Many artists like Shang are using the artıstic method (方法) loved by young people to let people feel the beauty of the countryside. It not only makes the childhood of left-behind children more interesting, but also brings new life to those unknown villages.
