① As Daddy's only daughter, I know what makes my Daddy more fantastic than all the other fathers — his big hands.

② Daddy has smart hands that can make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands can also make my hair beautiful. That's why I feel happy when other students talk about my hairstyle. I keep it to myself for years. What's more, his hands can paint a second-hand bike to look new. I get one on my tenth birthday. His hands can cook a delicious and colorful meal in minutes. I feel interested in watching his hands work. 

③ Daddy's creative hands are also useful and hard-working. They can fly a kite high in the sky and get it down from the top of a tree. They can wash my white dress clean, which becomes my favorite one. To my surprise, those hands could feed seven children after Mom died (死亡) . It is his feelings that show what he really is, far more than his abilities (能力).

④ Not only are Daddy's hands great, they can also send me a note full of love. When I am ill, he makes me feel better. He will take a small blanket (毯子), warm it up and put it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. They seem to know I am feeling terrible before I can cry (哭). When I am worried about something, Daddy will often hand me a cup of hot milk and sit next to me. He will say, "The best is always to come, my dear."

⑤ The more I read Daddy's hands, the more stories I get from them. Daddy's hands are fantastic. They have the knowledge (知识) and power to move mountains. They make the impossible possible (可能) .

The Spring Festival is celebrated not only in China but also in other parts of the world. The traditional holiday is the most important to Chinese both at home and abroad. 

The United Kingdom

Celebrations for the Spring Festival in the UK started in 1980, with the first evening party held in 2002. Every New Year, people get together and have a lot of activities. They sing songs, dance to music, share photos with friends or enjoy films in a cinema. 

The United States

The Spring Festival has become a key time for Chinese living or working in the US. They join in a large evening party to welcome the traditional New Year. It is a good chance for people to build a circle of friends and feel that they are not alone because they share the same culture and values. 

Australia

The Chinese New Year will be welcomed with three weeks of celebrations across Australia. Many people come to Sydney's Chinatown or Lite Bourke Street in Melbourne. They enjoy fireworks (烟花), lion dances and dragon boat races. The celebrations are also a bridge towards better understanding between Chinese and non-Chinese. 

Singapore

The family dinner on New Year's Eve is an important tradition for Chinese whether they were born in Singapore or moved there from China. They place traditional food on a table as an act of remembering their past. Then the whole family enjoy the dinner together. They usually hold it at home because having it in a restaurant takes away the meaning of the tradition.

I was amazed by the 2024 Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour （上海浪琴环球马术冠军赛）.

After arriving at the equestrian （马术）centre, we first had a guided tour. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}In many sports, the judges' seats are usually placed in a point to help them clearly watch and score the performances. However, in equestrian events, judges often work from a single room, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It can offer the judges a clear view of the competition.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}As we are interested in equestrian sports, we had a lot of questions: How do you keep a good relationship with a horse? {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They patiently answered all of our questions. They said if you treat the horse as a friend and trust it, it will do better in the competitions. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Time flew and the wonderful journey ended. However, now, every time I think of it, I have a picture in my mind of a young boy racing with his horse, with a line of trust.

The speech bubble* is a way to show words spoken by characters in comics* or cartoons. The birth of the speech bubble was in the seventeenth century in England. Since then, it has been used together with drawn characters. At that time, cartoonists used the speech bubble sometimes. A cartoon called Hogan's Alley began to use it all the time in 1895. In Japan, they still had to wait until the 1930s to have the speech bubble. 

A speech bubble usually has two parts – the bubble and the tail. The bubble has the messages that the character wants to express. The tail helps tell who has spoken the words. So the tail is always pointed to the character. If a character can't be seen in the picture, the tail may be pointed towards the bubble itself.

There are diverse speech bubbles. One of the most common bubbles is the thought bubble. It usually shows what the character is thinking about or an idea in a cloud-shaped or square bubble. How about expressing strong feelings? The jagged edge bubble can help to show anger or excitement. But when you want to make your character express a secret or just whisper some words, a bubble with dashed lines may be the best choice. One of the funniest bubbles is the wavy bubble with a wavy tail. It sends readers the message that the character is so tired.

The speech bubble is necessary for expressing spoken dialogues. Comic artists must carefully choose and place it in order to express the proper meaning and not to puzzle the reader. The proper use helps bring characters on the paper to life, for they have a "voice".

One day five fishermen go fishing. They are lucky. Each fisherman gets a big fish. 

"What a fine dinner we will have!" says one fisherman. "Now let's go home. "

"Are we all here? Let me count first, " says another. "One, two, three, four. Oh, no! One of us is missing(失踪的)!"

"It cannot be!" says another. So he begins to count. "One, two, three, four. I see four fishermen, too! One of us has drowned(溺死)!"

All the fishermen are heartbroken. They cry and cry. 

Just then a little girl comes by. "Why do you cry?" she asks them. 

"One fisherman is missing, " says one fisherman. 

"One, two, three, four, " he counts again. 

The little girl sees his mistake right away. So she says, "Will you give me your fish if I find your missing friend?" asks she. 

"Yes! Yes!" say they. 

"Now jump into the river one at a time, " the little girl tells them. "And I will count you. "

The fishermen jump into the river one by one. One! Two! Three! Four! Five!

"Five!" the fishermen shout, "You find our missing friend!" Then the fishermen give the little girl all their fish. They have no fish for dinner, but they are all happy again.

⑤____. They like dry，warm air with bright light, so they grow best when placed near a window. Aloe Vera plants can keep water in their leaves. So, they do not need to be watered so often as most houseplants. Just wait until(直到) the earth is completely dry before you water them. When watering, make sure the earth is wet enough so that it can last for a long time. That's all you need to do to take care of an Aloe Vera plant. Isn't it the perfect plant for lazy and forgetful gardeners?
