Jack is 10 years old, and I am his pencil. I'm Jack's helper（助手）.

    Jack's pencil box is my home. I have some friends here. They are seven crayons, a ruler, a pencil sharpener and an eraser. Because Jack loves me, I'm the king（国王）in the pencil box. My friends and I are happy every day.

    Today, I am not happy because a pen comes in. It's new and beautiful. It's a music pen. It can not only write（写） but also sing（唱歌）. But I'm old and I can only help Jack to write. Jack likes it so much! The new pen is his helper now. It's the new king. What can I do now? Shall I go to a new home?

Last summer,Cathy's whole family went to New York City for their summer vacation. They stayed there for two weeks.

First they visited the Statue of Liberty. There they were glad to see a lot of their favourite animals-tigers, lions, monkeys, and elephants.

    My name is Peter. I'm from New York and I am in Qingdao with my parents and my sister Lily now. My sister is eleven and I am twelve. We are in the same school. We go to school from Monday to Friday. Our parents are busy working and they don't have time to drive us to school. So we often go to school by bus. Sometimes we also ride a bike to school. We have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon. My favorite subject is math. Science is my sister's favorite.

    I like sports. I like playing soccer and basketball very much. But I don't have much time to play them on weekdays. I help my sister with her math on Mondays, go shopping with my mother on Wednesdays, and practice Chinese on Friday afternoons. My Chinese friends help me with my Chinese. In spring, it is in the middle of a white apricot blossom (杏花林).6 summer time, green plants circle the wall. In autumn, maple leaves (枫叶) 7 a golden and red scene. And 8puts the great wall in a world of white snow.

    The "wild wall" is great for backpackers. Wild parts of the wall are for the adventurous (敢于冒险的人)9 they are the same as they were originally. Jiankou Great Wall is a famous one. Trees grow up from in between the stones. In some places, you have to climb the stones with both your hands and feet. Be 10when you visit the wild walls. You'd better not go there alone.

Mary and Lisa are sisters. They like the same colour— blue. They like the same sports— swimming and basketball. They go to the same middle school. But they aren't in the same class. They like music and art. Art is their favourite subject. 

But Mary and Lisa have a big difference (不同之处) . Mary has many friends. They like to play with her. But Lisa doesn't have any friends. Their mum sees the difference. She says to Lisa, "My dear, your smile (微笑) is very beautiful. Why not smile often?" Lisa says OK and she tries smiling often. Children come to Lisa. They like her smile. They want to make friends with her. Now Lisa has many friends. She is very happy.
