    Last week when I was reading at home,my younger sister rushed in and told me an old man was lying on the ground in front of our building.I immediately took my first-aid kit and ran downstairs.He was suffering a slight heart attack.And I performed CPR on him.Luckily,an ambulance came soon and he was taken to hospital.Later that day I was told by the hospital what I did helped rescue the old man's life.I was happy to hear that.There were many people who wanted to help around the old man then.Yet no one performed first aid on him as they hadn't attended a first-aid course.

    Here are my reasons.

    You can gain the knowledge,skills and confidence to act in an emergency.You never know when you might need them—you could be at home,at work,at school or on holiday.If you have the skills,you can act whenever you're needed.

    For your family,your neighbors or the broader community,having more people with first-aid skills helps build a stronger and more harmonious community.

    You can stay safe at work.With first-aid knowledge you can create a safe work environment and help meet your workplace's safety requirements.

    It's helpful to your future career.The first-hand experience you gain through learning first aid and using your skills could help you decide if you want to pursue a career in the health profession.

A.Yet at the same time I felt a bit sad.

B.I received a phone call from the hospital.

C.You can be a resource for your community.

D.Illness and injury can happen anywhere,anytime.

E.You can take first-aid courses in your community for free.

    Maybe you are an ordinary student. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} This is not necessarily so. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here's how:

    Plan your time carefully. When planning your work, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time. First arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc, then decide a good, regular time for studying. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will force you realize what is happening to your time.

    Make good use of your time in class. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Listening carefully in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.

    Study regularly. When you get home from school, go over your notes, review the important points that your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.

    Develop a good attitude towards tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. The world won't end if you don't pass a test, so don't be over worried.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.

A. This will help you understand the next class.

B. You probably think you will never be a top student.

C. Don't forget to set aside enough time for entertainment.

D. No one can become a top student unless he or she works hard.

E. There are other methods that might help you with your study.

F. Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teacher says.

G. Make full use of spare time to take note of what the teacher says in class.

    Public Speaking Training

    Get a coach

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} so get help. Since there are about a billion companies out there all ready to offer you public speaking training and courses, here are some things to look for when deciding the training that's right for you.

    Focus on positives

Any training you do to become more effective at public speaking should always focus on the positive aspects of what you already do well. Nothing can hurt confidence more than being told that you aren't doing well.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} so good public speaking training should develop those instead of telling you what you shouldn't do.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

If you find a public speaking course that looks as though it's going to give you lots of dos and don'ts, walk away! Your brain is so full of what you're going to be talking about.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} As far as we're concerned, there are basically no hard and fast rules about public speaking. Your audience can be your friends.

    You are a special person not a clone (克隆人)

Most importantly, good public speaking training should treat you as a special one, with your own personal habits.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Your training course should help you bring out your personality, not try to turn you into someone you're not.

A. You aren't like anybody else

B. You already do lots of things well

C. Turn your back on too many rules

G. So trying to force a whole set of rules into it will just make things worse

    Busy!Busy!

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in a study of general managers in industry, John Kotter reported that many of them worked 60 to 65 hours per week-which translates into at least six 10-hour days.     {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say “no” to almost everything. And that's what gives them the time to accomplish so much. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. And focus means saying “no” to a lot of distractions(分散力).

    Know what you are

    Ignore weakness and keep improving your strengths. Don't waste time exploring skill areas where you have little competence. Instead, focus on-and build on-your strengths. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Wiseman created a “luck school” to test these ideas-and it was a success. In total, 80 percent of people who attended luck school said that their luck bad increased. On average, these people reported that their luck had risen by more than 40 percent.

    Open with a discussion of young children's tech use

    Admit your tech problems

    One of my students wrote that she would like to prevent the whole family from using tech facilities. Clearly, someone in her home was having some tech use problems. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}We can't tell kids to put down their devices if we continue to use them.

Keep a balanced opinion

    We adults wouldn't be able to live in today's society without screens, so we shouldn't expect teenagers to do so either. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}It's improved our lives in many ways. Before we start talking about its challenges, we need to realize its opportunities, too.

    Deal with the topic like you would nutrition (营养)

    If children weren't making good food choices, we would never take their lunches away and make them stay hungry.     College is the time when you're expected to focus on your path in life. But it's also the time you're the least equipped to have any long-term plan. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

The whole process can be divided into three stages.

    The first is "gathering fuel". This means building up your skills, learning from different experiences and developing a network of people who you trust and who trust you. And this is a stage that requires patience and a willingness to identify your own weaknesses and work on them. If you complete this stage with a growing sense of what you love to do and what you are good at, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    The second stage is "burning fuel". This is the time to improve the skills you've obtained through experiences, the people you've met along the way and the recognition of what you should do. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. We want to get where we're going in a hurry, but that hardly works.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Simply speaking, it's about staying strong, while turning an eye towards what lies ahead. It's a surprisingly long journey and most people underestimate it. You can't expect an ideal life to happen by itself. You must recognize that no matter where you are on the path, each step is there to teach you something, feeding you that fuel.

    If you're not doing what you want, you need more fuel — so go out and get it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    Maintaining good posture is one of the most important things you can do to keep your spine healthy. Proper posture means standing or sitting while keeping your spine straight, except for its natural curves. Posture comes into play even when you are asleep. Sleeping on your side puts less stress on your spine than most other positions. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Especially if you work at a desk most of the day, it's important to get up and stretch regularly.

     {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Stretch can help the muscles around your spine relax and allow bones to shift into better arrangement. Strength exercises like push-ups (俯卧撑)can also help by strengthening the muscles around your spine. However, don't overdo the exercise, as repeated movements can strain the muscles around your spine.Finally, your diet affects the health of your spine because many vitamins arc necessary for bones and nerves. In particular, vitamins B and D are essential to keep bones healthy, so you may want to consider taking a supplement (补充). {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, so it is also helpful to do some of exercise outside.
