New rules and behavior standards for middle school students came out. Middle schools are going to use a new way to decide who the top students are. The following are some of the new rules.

You should not dye(染)your hair, smoke or drink. You should not copy others' work in an exam. Don't do it again if you did it!

     Good students love animals and care for other people. Being kind to animals is being kind to ourselves. Be friendly to the people around you. Try to think of others, not only yourself.

Don't look down on new ideas. Everyone's ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make life better for everyone.

Learn to protect yourselves. If you have to go home late, you should let your mother or your father know.

    Use the Internet carefully. The Internet can be very useful for your studies. But some things on the Internet aren't good for teenagers, so try to look through web pages that are good for you.

    Jack is 15 years old. He wants to take his family—his parents and his sister Jessica out to lunch, so he wants to make money (挣钱) by helping his parents do some things.  

    Jack gets up at 6: 30, and then he cleans the house. At about 7: 00, he eats breakfast and then goes to school. He has four classes in the morning and three in the afternoon. At 5: 30, Jack goes home and he helps his mom buy food, or cleans the car for his father. Sometimes, his sister helps him. Jack has 95 dollars now.  He still (还) needs 55 dollars. He is very happy. When he takes his family out to lunch, he will pay the bill.  

We all long for friendship, but how to make a friend? “The best time to make a friend is before you need one.” Joy Steven said. The following are some tips for you.

Praise is a powerful tool to make a friend. Honest praise can affect your friends' lives. So try to praise your friends, including your general ones.

    Liu Wei is very famous in China because he can play the piano with his toes(脚趾). One day when Liu Wei was only 10 years old, he played a game with some friends. He lost both his arms because of electricity(电). Liu Wei was very sad when both his arms were cut off after the accident. But soon he had to make a choice. "For people like me, there were only two choices. One was to give up all the dreams, which would cause a quick death. The other was to work hard without arms to live an excellent life." says Liu Wei. Liu's dream was to be a pianist. His excellent life included a show on China's Got Talent(《中国达人秀》) and a wonderful performance(演奏) playing the beautiful Marriage D'amour with his two feet on the piano. Liu Wei learned to play the piano with his feet. And teaching himself to play the piano with his feet was very hard. Many times he wanted to give it up, but his parents went on encouraging(鼓励) him and he wanted to make his parents proud. Maybe you can not believe that Liu Wei is able to play well only with his toes. The audience(观众) were deeply moved and very excited when they watched his performance.

    Teaching your child to read can be one of the most rewarding(值得的) experiences you have as a parent.

Nothing can replace the head start(起步时的优势) that a child receives from becoming familiar(熟悉的) with books and the way that the written word sounds when reading aloud. If your child sees that reading is important to you, then he will be much more likely to want to learn how to read himself.

    If your child shows interest in learning letters and looking through books, he may be ready to begin learning to read. Learning how to read cannot be rushed. If your child has no interest in learning his letters, then wait a month or so and try again.

    You can make this fun, such as saying "I see a [k]-[ӕ]-[t]-cat" whenever you see a cat. The sound of a letter is much more important than a letter's name because the child will need to combine the letter sounds to make words.

    Some children learn their letters faster by seeing or hearing them, while other children learn letters by using their bodies. Encourage your child to draw the letter and then paste pictures of something that begins with that sound onto the letter. Sing songs about the letter. Read your child a story that repeatedly uses that letter sound.

    Rather than try to teach a child 26 new letters at one time, focus on one letter a day or a week. This enables the child to master each letter sound and feel proud of himself/herself for doing so.
