Cindy's teacher was Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones was old. But she didn't walk slow. She walked fast. She didn't have white hair. She had black hair. She wasn't a bent woman. Her back was straight. All the students liked Mrs. Jones. They especially liked her on Fridays. On Fridays, she brought cookies (饼干). She gave cookies to all the students. The cookies were delicious. All the students liked the cookies.

    Today was Friday. Mrs. Jones gave cookies with animal pictures to all the students. All the students said,“Thank you. "Then they all ate the cookies. But Cindy didn't eat her cookie. Mrs. Jones asked, "Why aren't you eating your cookie, Cindy?” She said, "I'm not eating my cookie because I will take it home. I will share it with my sister. "Mrs. Jones said," You're so sweet. Here's a cookie for your sister."

Something unexpected happened in the summer of my eleventh year. The home I had grown up in burned to the ground in the middle of the night. Thankfully, my mom, dad, grandma, brothers and I escaped along with my dogs. Yet, we had nothing but the night clothes we were sleeping in. I spent the rest of that night with a friend of my family. I tried unsuccessfully to sleep in the bed in his house. I was too scared.

    The next day my mom brought me a few T-shirts and pairs of jeans that another friend gave to her. One pair of them was too short and the other pair was too long, but I didn't care. At least I had some clothes again. My dad returned to our broken home to see what he could find. The only thing he could save was my mom's rings.

    To spend the summery dad rented us a big house on the same road as our old house had been. As we moved in, our friends and our community continued to donate (捐赠) all they could to help us to get back on our feet. There were more clothes, furniture, food money, and even some books for me to read. Love was around us.

    Looking back now I am thankful for all we went through that summer because it taught me so much about life, love and people. It showed me that when you have nothing left but love, for the first time you see that love is enough.

One Day of a Middle School Student

My name is Jill Green. I am a teacher of a middle school in England. 1 want to tell the school day of my school to you.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}The first lesson is at 9:20 a.m. It lasts(持续) an hour. The students can have a break(休息) from 10:20 a. m. to 10:45 a. m. Most girls like to talk, but most boys like to play ball games.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}After the break, students have the second lesson. During(在.....期间) the first quarter of the lesson, teachers usually have a test(测 试)for the students.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

Lunch time is from 12:00 to 1:10 p. m. All students have their lunch at school. After lunch, students like to go to some clubs. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They can also watch TV, play games or tell stories in the clubs.

Students read some books and have the last lesson in the afternoon.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Then students go home.

Life in the future will be different from life today. Many changes will happen. But what will the changes be?

The population (人口) is growing fast. There will be more people in the world and most of them will live longer than people live now. 

Computers will be much smaller and more useful, and there will be at least one in every home. And computer studies will be one of the important subjects in school then. People will work fewer hours than they do now and they will have more free time for sports, watching TV and travelling. Travelling will be much cheaper and easier. 

There will be changes in our food, too. More land will be used for building new towns and houses for all the people. Then there will be less room for cows and sheep, so meat will be more expensive. Maybe no one will eat it every day. Instead (相反), they will eat more fruit and vegetables. Maybe people will be healthier. Work in the future will be different, too. Robots will do dangerous and hard work. Because of this, many people will not have enough (足够的) work to do. This will be a problem. 

Tony lives in a big house, and his family is rich (富有的). He has a bad 1 . He always wastes (浪费) food. For example, he 2 eats half of an apple and throws away (扔掉) the other half. His mother always 3 him not to do that, but he doesn't 4 his mother. He thinks his father has a lot of money, so it's not a big deal. "My mother is too strict 5 me," he says. He doesn't like exercising, 6 . His home is not far from school, but he never walks 7 rides a bike to school. He asks his mother to take him to school in the 8 . He says to his mother. "We have a car, so 9 do I need to ride a bike or walk to school? Walking 10 me tired."

One day, in a geography class, his teacher 11 some pictures of Africa to Tony and his classmates. Many 12 have no food to eat there. They are thin because of hunger (饥饿). Their teacher asks them to 13 money and do something to help them. Tony feels 14 for what he did before. He knows what his mother did is to help 15 develop (养成) good habits.
