Many people think of guys as being carefree when it comes to their appearance . But in fact , a lot of guys spend plenty of time in front of the mirror . They care just as much as girls do about their body image.

    Body image is a person's opinions and feelings about his or her own body and physical appearance. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} You appreciate your body for its capabilities and accept its imperfections.

    Recognize your strengths. Different body types are good for different things. What does your body do well? Maybe your speed, strength, or coordination makes you better than others at a certain sport. That may be basketball, table tennis, mountain biking , dancing , or even running . Or perhaps you have non-sports skills, like drawing, painting , singing , playing a musical instrument , writing , or acting . {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Exercise regularly. Exercise can help you look good and feel good about yourself. Good physiques（体形）don't just happen . {#blank#}4{#/blank#} A healthy habit can be as simple as exercising 20 minutes to 1 hour three days a week . Working out can also lift your spirits .

    Respect your body ! Practicing good habits – regular showering ; taking care of your teeth , hair , and skin ; wearing clean clothes , and so on – can help you build a positive body image .

    Social media can be defined (解释) as web-based and mobile media that are used for people to interact, connect and communicate with each other. It often involves the creation and sharing of content (writing, pictures, and video) that people make themselves, mostly through the Internet.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The first type involves people getting together to work on a project, for example, Wikipedia. Blogs and micro-blogs (such as Twitter) are another type of social media. There are other websites like YouTube that allow people to share content such as pictures, articles or videos.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} These sites allow people to stay in touch with friends, make new ones and join communities. Facebook is an example of this type. Many people like to play games on the Internet and, yes, there are social media games as well. These games allow gamers to interact with each other and play with or against other gamers.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} The final type of social media is websites like Second Life, where people can create avatars (化身) and use and create objects, as if they were in the real world.

    Social media are different from traditional media. With social media, many individual people in different places create content.

    Another difference is that people who produce content in social media don't need very special skills.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} It takes only a few minutes to write a twitter post, for example.

Rising through stages to realize ourselves

    Many modern people have the problem that they don't know who they are and what their purpose is. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Once high school seniors graduate, they seem to lose their identity. They once studied hard. But after they stop working, they begin to lose their way.

    In the theory of the Hierarchy of Needs（需求理论）, Abraham Maslo, put forward a similar situation, which consists of the five levels of a person's need. The fifth and final level is self-realization, which is where our final achievement lies. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    I think self- realization has three major aspects. The first stage is acceptance, the second stage is discovery and the last stage is perseverance.

    Acceptance is the first stage. We should be reminded that we are all born unique, so we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Only when we understand these, can we pursue them or change them. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

    Once we've accepted ourselves, we can discover what we are interested in and what we want to be. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} but indeed we should live for ourselves. So before we start working towards a purpose, we should ask ourselves "Is this what we truly desire?" and "Is this going to change the situation we're in?"

    The last stage is perseverance.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Those who can self-realize are people who focus on the things they want to change.

    Through the three stages, we could gain recognition of ourselves. And by this point, whatever our lives were like, we would be able to stand tall, confident of ourselves.

    By contrast, other people work to live. These people view their work or careers largely as toil whose purpose is to earn the money necessary to support themselves and their dependents. Their real interests lie elsewhere. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Some of these people try to cut comers, to gain the maximum pay for the minimum amount of effort. Others do indeed take great pride in their work and put great effort into doing their jobs well, but their jobs simply are not the centers of their lives.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Examples abound of individuals who lose their native passion for work because they cannot find an adequate position or pay in their preferred fields of endeavor. When they settle for jobs in other fields, they often do so strictly for benefits, such as compensation (补偿). {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

So how do we practice reading so that our skill level improves? When we read a passage, we need to understand it. We must understand what the important words mean in each sentence. This does not mean that we need to know the meaning of every word. In many cases, we can find out what words mean from the words around them. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} To do this, we must understand how words work together. In many cases, we must "see" part of the message that has not been written, or we must form an opinion ourselves.
