Schuylerville High School students have a wide range of interests, which are reflected by the number of clubs and organizations in which our pupils participate. Here are some of the most popular clubs.

Environmental Club

Open to students in grades 9—12 Advisor: Mrs. Flores

The High School Environmental Club is open to all students interest increasing environmental awareness throughout the school. Activities include recycling, environmental competitions, volunteering with green schools and outdoor events. This run student club collects and recycles paper products throughout the school building.

Freshman Class

Open to students in grades 9—10 Advisor: Mr. winslow

The freshmen class participates in several activities throughout the year to raise money for the class account. The class officers meet once a month to discuss business that affects the entire class. All members of the freshman class are encouraged to participate in some type of community service during the year.

Literary magazine

Open to students in grades 10—12 Advisor: Mr. Sgambati

Members of the Literary Magazine collect, edit and often contribute to the body of student work. Literary Magazine meetings will also give students the opportunity to share and receive feedback on the creative pieces that they're working on, as well as the chance to learn about writing practices and strategies.

Mock Trial Team

Open to stude…s in grades 11—12Advisor: Mrs. Lewis

Mock Trial is an after—school activity that helps students develop useful knowledge about the law. Students play out all the roles and use general rules of evidence and fact explanations in a school court. They will work with a real lawyer and an advisor to further understand the court process.

Brighton, a famous holiday town next to the sea in Sussex, on the southeast coast of England, is only 50 minutes on a fast train from London. The town usually has about 134, 000 citizens（市民）, but it gets a lot of tourists all year round. 

A long time ago, Brighton was a quiet fishing town. Later on, when swimming in the sea became popular, many rich and important people, as well as musicians and writers began to arrive and Brighton became a popular seaside holiday town. 

Prince George, the future King George IV, first visited Brighton in 

1783. He liked it and spent part of the summer there because of his poor health. He asked John Nash, a very famous builder, to build him a palace. It took about 40 years to build the palace and it cost 500, 000 pounds! Now more than 400, 000 tourists visit Brighton and the palace—the Royal Pavilion every year. 

The Royal Pavilion, with its beautiful rooms and museums, is not the only interesting thing in Brighton. In May, this friendly and colourful town holds an international（国际的）festival with many different kinds of music, dance and theatre. 

To stop more teenagers from becoming addicted（沉迷） to the Internet, the Ministry of Education （MOE, 教育部） sent a letter on April 20, 2018 to all parents in China, It calls on them to pay more attention to their children's online activities. Nowadays more and more teenagers become addicted to the Internet. A 17-year-old boy from Guangdong Province nearly died after playing online games for 40 hours. It shows how bad things can get when one becomes addicted to the Internet. 

The MOE also sent a notice to primary and middle schools, asking them to manage students' Internet use. From now on, schools will pay more attention to their students' Internet use, as well as their use of mobile phones. Schools have been told to teach students how to avoid violent（暴力的）online contents（内容）. As long as students show signs of being addicted to the Internet, they can get help from their teachers to give up their addiction. 

To make better use of the Internet, experts suggest that students should limit（限制） their screen time to less than 1. 5 hours a day. They can develop healthy hobbies, like reading or playing sports in their free time. 

Many other countries are also taking action. The Australian government has called for schools to confiscate （没收） mobile phones during school hours. And in South Korea, there is a law that children under the age of 16 are not allowed to play online between midnight and 6 am. 

What if you don't know how to study well? The Feynman Technique might help you. It's a study method that helps students learn by teaching others. 

The Feynman Technique has been one of the best study methods for years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just memorizing information. Different from traditional study methods like re-reading textbooks or reviewing notes, it gets students to be more active in the learning process. 

If you want to use the Feynman Technique to study better, follow these steps. 

To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn. If not, you'll end up jumping between the topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them. 

The second step is the heart of the Feynman Technique: explaining the topic simply enough to be understood by a sixth-grade student. This requires you to help the child understand by using the simplest and clearest language. This step helps divide indigestible topics into their most basic parts. 

Next, review your explanation and try to find any area where you felt that you couldn't explain the topic simply. When possible, it can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grader. 

The fourth step is to improve your explanation using the information collected from the third step. 

Finally, repeat the steps. The Feynman Technique works best with repetition, and that is why going through all the prior (先前的) steps just once is usually not enough to fully understand the topic.
