Most English people have three names: a first name, a middle name and a family name. For example, my full name is Ann Allan Green. Green is my family name. Ann and Allan are my given names. People don't use their middle names very much.So we can say Ann Green. We can say Miss Green or Mrs. Green. But we can't say Miss Ann or Mrs. Ann. It's different from Chinese names. In China, the first name is the family name and the last name is the given name.

    Oxford is a city in the UK. It's in the west of the UK and it's famous for the University of Oxford. It's an old university--about 900 years old. It has a longer history than Cambridge University. It's the oldest university in the English speaking world.

    There are about 21,000 students and they are from all over the world. Many students go to school by bike. There are 38 colleges in the University of Oxford, but Cambridge University has only 31 colleges. There are 104 libraries in the University of Oxford. Bodleian Library is the second largest library in the UK. Stephen Hawking was a student of the University of Oxford. He's a great scientist. Clinton, the 42nd American President, was also a student of the university.

  First Frenchman: I once heard someone shout, "Look out." I put my head out of a window and a glass of water fell on me. It seems that "look out" may mean "Don't look out."

    What is a Chinatown? Is it a town in China? Of course not! It is in a foreign country. It is a place where many overseas Chinese live together. Chinatowns are throughout the world, including those in East Asia, Southeast Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Europe. The biggest one is in New York. There are about 150, 000 people in it. It is the home of Chinese New Yorkers. And it is also a good place to go.
