Last month, we went for a school trip to a group of islands called Langkawi. It was exciting at first, but by the end of the day, I'd say it was a trip full of pain.

We got up early and jumped onto the boats. As the engine(引擎) of the boats worked, snow-white bubbles came out from below the boats, and the breezes (微风)touched our faces.

The first island we arrived at was called the Island of the Pregnant Maiden. We were allowed into the water for about half an hour, and I had fun playing with my classmates in the water. All was fine until one of my water shoes fell into the lake.

So I had to do the rest of the trip with only one shoe on.

When we first walked through the forest, I thought it was a nice walk. But with only one shoe, my foot came across either cold shards (玻璃碎片) or hot stones along the way. As the time went on, the land became increasingly jagged (凹凸不平的). I winced (皱起脸) with every step I took. But then something magical happened-I found a pretty seashell! I felt like I had found gold and all the pain was worth it.

The trip was a valuable experience-the beautiful sea views and the beach treasure hunt were wonderful moments for me. I've learnt an important lesson from that day, which is not to focus on the bad memories, but to remember the cheerful feelings and value them.

My name is Evelyn Glennie. I am a solo(独奏的) drum player. Here I'd like to talk 1 my story. When I was about 12, I 2 interested in percussion instruments(打击乐器) and began to play them. At that time I lost all of my hearing. I remember when I learned 3 the tympani (定音鼓), my teacher said," Well, you know, mu- sic is about listening. How are you going to hear the sound?"I asked," Well, how do you hear it?" He pointed to 4 ear and said,"I hear it through here." Then I told him,"I think I do, too, 5 I also hear it through my hands, my arms, my eyes, my legs and so on."I mean that I 6 feel the music, see it and touch it. That's why I can experience every kind of music, from classical to pop, even though I can't actually hear it.

Now I 7 ' invited to travel around the world for concerts. I like to go to other people's concerts in different countries. I also like to find new instruments. Now I have 8 instruments. They often remind (提醒) me of how excited I was when I first saw local musicians playing them. These experience was such 9 beautiful memory to me. And10 thing is that every time I play instruments, I really enjoy my time with music.

 Using plants to dye(给······染色) cloth is nothing new to us all. It has a history of over 1,000 years in China. In recent years, more and more people have begun to improve 1 traditional way of dyeing.

 Chen Yongmei, a young girl from Hunan, is one of 2 . She helped bring plant dyeing to a whole new level 3 making good use of waste products of vine tea(藤茶).

 Chen grew up helping her family dye cloth. One day, she accidentally found that old vine tea 4 from her hometown made a good dye. Then she 5 her own business of vine tea dyeing.

"Compared with chemical(化学的) dyeing, vine tea dyeing is more environmentally friendly,6 it doesn't cause any water pollution. Besides, only water and tea 7 during the dyeing process. For this reason, vine tea dyeing isn't 8 for human health," Chen said.

 She is also going to build an education center 9 people the art of plant dyeing. "Plant dyeing is a traditional skill in China, and it should be 10 used. I'm glad to play my part in helping it develop," said Chen.

 Liam Garner likes adventures and had some experiences with long-distance biking. He had once ridden 750 km from Los Angeles to San Francisco. He thought he could {#blank#}1{#/blank#}( easy) ride from Alaska, one of the northernmost places in North America, to Argentina, one of the southernmost {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( city) in South America. So, as soon as he finished high school, Garner began preparing for his adventure. 

 On August 1, 2021, Garner started his journey. Garner rode through Mexico, Colombia and ten other countries. He was especially surprised by El Salvador. The boy thought it was"one of the most peaceful countries in the world. "

 However, while he {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( ride) through Colombia, Garner also met much trouble along the way. He was robbed at least five different times. Yet the boy faced an even {#blank#}4{#/blank#}( big) challenge on his way. In Mexico, he experienced extreme heat. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( fall) off his bike, landed on his head and had to spend a month in the hospital. 

 Garner first began cycling because he didn't have a car. But now, he considers it to be the best way to travel, "Since you go slow, you have the chances {#blank#}6{#/blank#}( smell) and touch things, " he says. "You develop a special fondness for the little towns along the way. "

 Over the course of 527 days, he had cycled 32, 000 kilometers. When he gets home, he hopes to write {#blank#}7{#/blank#} book about his journey. He hopes his ride will encourage others to start out on their own adventure.
