I've been a newspaperman nearly all my life in an office. My daughter is working toward her doctor's degree. But Jody, my 1 ? Book reports weren't written until the final night. Science projects waited until the 2 moment. When entering the tenth grade, he became a"vo-tech (职业技术)"student called"motorhead".

When a worker in my office first called 3 "motorhead", I was shocked!

People around the world work together to help our planet on Earth Day, April 22. But in fact, lots of people protect the Earth all year long. They are Earth heroes(英雄). And some kids do, too. We have four kids here, telling you that you can help even if you are a child.

Saving the frogs

John is from the USA. He always loves frogs. When John was 5, he learned their living places were in danger. So John started a group, For the Love of Frogs. They sold toy frogs to collect money to help frogs. John is now 10 and the group has more than $ 20,000 to protect frogs!

Growing right

Mandy lives in a city in India. She saw a wasteland near her house at 15. She turned it into a garden. She used native plants that lived or grew around her city. Native plants could make insects like butterflies and animals come to her area.

Mandy is now 18. She is teaching people about native plants." The way to reuse the wasteland is not just to plant any tree," she said." It is to make sure that you grow the right plants in the area."

Cleaning up

Zhang Min, 13, and Zhang Jie, 15, live in a city in China. To fight plastic pollution, they made a plan. They wanted to clean up plastic waste in the Pearl River.

Xu Yanglan is an English teacher in a high school in Wuhan. She has a good idea about it. She changes the game into Ying Le Ge Yu. It has the same music as that famous game. But the pictures are English words. Students need to remember the English words in the new game.

Peng Jingxuan, a Chinese student, has studied music in France for years. When she 1 playing the guzheng on the streets of France in 2018, she did not think that the traditional instrument(传统乐器) would2 her life. 

Peng began to study the guzheng when she was 7 years old. 

In 2017, she went to France to study music. She was3 to find that very few people in France knew about the guzheng. 

"I wanted to make4 people know this instrument, " Peng said. 

She began to do5 performances(表演). Peng Jingxuan played the guzheng near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. As a(n)6 music performer, she shared traditional music with French people. The more Peng played on the streets, the greater pride (自豪) she felt in7 Chinese music and culture. 

To make this traditional Chinese instrument better known to people in France, Peng 8 chose traditional guzheng pieces and some pop songs9 strong Chinese influences (影响). 

"To get more people to know about it, understand it, and love it. . . is the biggest10 of Chinese artists playing the traditional musical instrument, " she said. And she is willing to work hard on it.
