Thank you for your letter. I know something about your family from your letter. You have a small family, and there are only three people in your family. Your parents are doctors. Your family like western (西方的) food, like bread, hamburgers and chicken. The chicken is your favorite food. 

Now let me tell you something about my family. My family is big. You can see it in the photo. They are my grandparents, my parents, my brother and me. We live in Shanghai, China. My parents are high school teachers. My brother, Zhao Peng, studies at Tsinghua University (清华大学). My grandparents are old and rest (休养) at home. They live with us. They usually play Taijiquan in the morning. My grandma is a good cook, and she cooks breakfast and dinner for us. You can see we are all strong. I love my family very much.

Have you ever thought how lonely your pet dog will be when you leave home for school or work? Don't worry! A teenager has created a helpful robot for you. 

Cassidy Matwiyoff, a student in San Diego, California, created Bowwow. It is a robot and it helps to pet(抚摸) dogs when their owners are not at home. " The robot starts to work by dropping the food. The dog walks over to eat the food. During this process, Bowwow is petting the dog. " Natwiyoff says. 

The girl got the idea after watching ABC's Shark Tank. She spent four years creating a prototype (雏形) of Bowwow with the help of her mother. After that, she went to an Engineering and Computing Capstone Design program in Chico State. She was allowed to introduce her invention to a group of engineers and teachers in the hope of getting it produced. 

One of them disapproved of the idea. " My dog would rip(撕) this to pieces, " he said. This lit(点燃) a fire within Matwiyoff. She spent the next four months doing research and testing Bowwow for dogs of different sizes and ages. 

Matwiyoff hopes to catch an investor's(投资者的) eye soon and bring her invention to the market. " One day, investors will be interested in my product and want to invest it. " she said. 

There have been many great inventions or things that change the way we live. The first great invention is the one that is still very important today—the wheel. This makes it easier to carry heavy things and to travel long distances.

For hundreds of years after that there were few inventions that as much effect as the wheel. Then in the early 1800s the world started to change. There was little unknown land left in the world. People didn't have to explore much any more. They began to work in order to make life better.

In the second half of the 19th century, many great inventions were made. Among them were the camera, the light and the radio. These all play a big part in our daily life today.

The first part of the 20th century saw more great inventions. The helicopter in 1909, movies with sound in 1926, the computer in 1928, jet planes in 1930. It was also a time when a new material was first made—Nylon (尼龙)，which came out in 1935. It changed the kind of clothes people wore.

The middle part of the 20th century brought new ways to help people get over diseases. They worked very well. They made people healthier and allowed them to live longer. By the 1960s most people could expect to live to be at least 60. 

By this time most people in developed countries had a very good life. Of course new inventions continued to be made. But man now had a desire (渴望) to explore again. The Earth was known to man but stars were not. Man began looking for ways to go into space. Russia, United States, China and Japan have made their own steps into space.

In 1969, man took his biggest step away from the Earth. Americans first walked on the Moon. This is certainly just a beginning, though. New inventions will some day allow us to do things we have never yet dreamt of.

A lot of people like taking a holiday with no plans. They think it is very exciting and has more fun. But in fact, it is not good. Making holiday plans is very important. 

First, a holiday plan can make sure that everything goes well. If you visit a place but you don't book (预订) a hotel, you may have no place to stay at night. 

Second, you have lots of things to take with you for a holiday. You need to plan what things you have to buy and what things you need to put in bags. For example, you want to visit one place, but when you arrive at the airport, you forget to bring your plane ticket! You may be late for the plane. 

Third, making a holiday plan can help you save a lot of money. No one wants to spend more money. If you surf the Internet before you go on holiday, you may find some cheap plane tickets and hotel rooms. 

Next time you go on holiday, try to write down some plans. They can help you have more fun during your holiday. 

Singapore is a small island nation in Southeast Asia. Singapore is both the name of the country and its capital. It is said that a prince named the Island Singapore, meaning "Lion City". It's also called "Garden City" because gardens and trees are everywhere. Singapore Island and about 60 small islands make up the country. Almost 5,630,000 people live there. That makes Singapore one of the most crowded countries in the world. Most people speak English, but Chinese, Tamil (an Indian language) and Malay are also official languages. What's more, it is very hot and often rains in Singapore.
