Hi! This is my first post (帖子). I'm Mary. I'm fourteen and I live in New York. I have two brothers. Mark is twelve and Stephen is sixteen. My father is a teacher, but not at my school. My mother is from Canada and she works in New York. She's a photographer (摄影师). 

I have a grandfather and grandmother in New York and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins here, too. My mother's family are in Canada—her parents and her brother and sister. So I have family there, too.

Our house isn't big, but I have my own small bedroom. I have photos and posters (海报) in my room and I have a desk for my computer and two chairs, and a bed. Mark and Stephen's bedroom is big with two beds and a TV. They have a bookcase for their books and DVDs.

Billy lives in a quiet street in a big city. His mother sometimes takes him to the park to play, but when she is busy, he plays in the street by himself. One evening Billy's father gave him a beautiful new ball, and the next morning Billy went out into the street to play with it. He played happily for a few minutes, but then a big came along. When the dog saw the ball, he wanted to play with it, too. 

Billy picked the ball up and held it above his head. He did not want the big dog to take it and to run away with it, but the dog jumped up and knocked him over. 

Billy's mother came out of the house and ran to him at once. " Did he bite(咬) you?" she asked. "No, he didn't bite me. But he tasted me, Mum. "

 People keep pigs on farms for meat. Pigs like to stay in mud(泥浆) because it helps them to keep cool. Pigs live in the mud but they are very clean animals. Pigs are smarter than most dogs. Mother pigs can sing to their babies.

 People keep sheep on farms for their meat and milk. Sheep are happy when they live together in a group. Sheep are very gentle animals so people like to keep them.

 Cows give us the milk that we buy from the shops. People use milk to make ice cream and other kinds of food. Cows like to eat grass. Cows can drink a lot of water in one day.

 Horses are working animals that live and work on farms. ____ You can see people ride them in the shows or at the races.

 People keep chickens on farms for their eggs and meat. A female(母的) chicken is called a hen and a male(公的) chicken is called a rooster. Roosters can wake up the farmers every morning by saying"cock-a-doo-dle-doo".

In a nice village, there was a small bakery (面包店). Emma, a young baker, owned this bakery. People in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}village knew her for her kind heart. 

Every day, Emma would bake {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (many) than she could sell. She put the extra bread in a box outside her bakery{#blank#}3{#/blank#} a sign that read, "Take {#blank#}4{#/blank#} you need. " The box was for anyone in the village who was poor and couldn't buy a warm meal. 

  The wooden box became a symbol of hope and{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(kind) in the village. Those who {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(be) finding life hard could always depend on Emma for a hot meal. It wasn't just about the food; it was about knowing that someone cared. 

 Emma's kind acts {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(not stop) at the bakery. She also organized community events, like picnics in the park, to bring the village's people together. People from all walks of life would go, making new friends and feeling like a true community. 

 Inspired (受启发) by her kind acts, the people in the community began to follow in her footsteps. Some started to serve meals to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(that) in need. The children in the community, too, helped by making cards {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(bring) cheer to the old and the sick. Emma's good deeds had {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(true) set off a chain reaction (连锁反应) of love and goodwill. Over time, the village became a more caring and closer community. 

 From voluntarily collecting historical materials related to the Great Wall in his Shanxi hometown in Province to becoming an official cultural heritage(遗产) protector, Yuan Xuerui has spent over twenty years safeguarding the ancient wonder.

 China's Great Wall is one of the great wonders of the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built from 3 BC to the 1800s on the north of the country, the Great Wall has a total length of more than 20,000 kilometers.

 Yuan, 55, was born in Qingxibao at the foot of the ancient wall in Shanxi's Daixian county, which is part of the city of Xinzhou. His love for the ancient wall encouraged him to protect it, and when not engaged(从事) in farm work, he spent most of his time walking along the wall to collect bricks that had fallen off due to the long time and prepare for repairs. "What others think as a difficult and dull task of cultural heritage protection often brings me unexpected discoveries," Yuan said.

 He officially became a cultural heritage worker in 2018, and since then his duties have expanded from collecting bricks to organizing ancient documents related to the wall to better tell stories about it. As a heritage worker, Yuan has come to understand the meaning of the Great Wall. "Each brick has endured(忍受) the test of time over hundreds of years-in some cases more than a thousand-carrying rich historical memories," he said.

"This summer, Yuan organized a campaIgn(活动) to encourage people to collect bricks for the future repair of the wall. Many bricks were taken away from the Great Wall by local villagers to build their houses in the1960s and 1970s.("As villagers' awareness of the need to protect the wall has grown, nowadays, when locals find fallen bricks along the Great Wall, they will pick them up," he said. "If they see rubbish, they will also pick it up and throw it into bins."
