A recent survey shows young Chinese are less good at expressing thoughts and ideas. Half of those who were surveyed said they have poor verbal skills（表达能力）. And 40 percent of those surveyed said they had trouble expressing themselves well in writing. 

Poor education could be a cause of poor communication skills, but that may not explain everything. Of the 1, 333 young people who were surveyed, most were well-educated. The problem more likely resulted from the rise of digital（数字的） communication, with texting instead of talking, and short messages instead of long, complete sentences. 

Today, having trouble expressing thoughts and ideas is a worldwide problem. In America, some people try to solve the problem by returning to so-called "Classical Education". This form of education dates back to 500 years ago in Europe. They learn grammar, rhetoric and logic. Grammar meant learning how to write a complete and correct sentence. Rhetoric was the use of grammatical devices to make one's writing more convincing（有说服力的）. And logic was the use of reason to discover what is true or not true. 

If you want to improve your communication skills, you might begin by joining or starting a discussion group where you can talk with others about books, latest events or even hobbies. You can also get a beautiful diary and write down your thoughts in it every day. This will enable you to have a clearer mind so that you can get your ideas and feelings across more effectively. 

It might sound like magic, but in February, a paralyzed(瘫痪的) patient was able to drink water on his own by controlling a special glove with his brain. The glove then acted as his hand. This was a success in brain-machine interface (BMI, 脑机接口) technology made by a team of Chinese scientists and doctors.

BMI refers to creating a connection between the human brain and external devices (外部设备), making communication between the brain and computers. For paralyzed people, BMI can allow them to move and do simple things by themselves.

On Oct 24, 2023, the team put a BMI chip (芯片) in the patient's head. The chip can receive neural signals (神经信号) from the brain.

After three months of home recovery (康复) training, the patient can now use his brain signals to control a special glove powered by air pressure. This helps him do things like drinking water independently.

BMI technology usually means putting chips directly onto the patient's brain. However, this project is minimally invasive (微创的), making sure the patient's brain is not harmed. So it is an important breakthrough. It also uses a wireless power supply(无线电源), so the implanted(植入的) device doesn't need a battery(电池).

Li Yuanning from Shanghai Tech University told CCTV News that BMI is now mainly used in the medical field to improve the lives of people with brain-related problems or speech difficulties.

In China, BMI technology is still in the early stages of research, with no products on the market yet. Some people are worried that tests may influence patients' independence and even who they are. Ethical concerns(伦理问题) related to BMI also need to be addressed. These include whether the patient has a clear understanding of what is going on when they agree to take part in the test.

 Teens will finally grow up some day, leaving their parents and facing the challenges in life alone, so they should learn basic life skills and form good working habits.

 The government has been trying to pay attention to the importance of hardworking spirit education(劳动教育). But this has been overlooked in recent years. Many teens do not value(看重) the importance of working hard. There is a teenager girl named Nancy. She never helps out around the house. Once her mother was on vacation for a week, leaving her alone at home. When her mother came home from vacation, she could not find a clean di sh or a clean shirt.

 Parents should also encourage children to learn how to do chores at home. Teens should master(掌握) one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms. The basic skills may help teens to solve the problems they will meet in the future.

Now for me, I always find better ways to improve myself after I fail. But in the past, I didn't pay much attention to failure. So I always did things poorly.
