I love bedtime stories. I can never fall asleep without having my bedtime stories. Every day, I can have two stories, one in English and one in Japanese.My mom's first language is Japanese and my dad's first language is English.Usually, Dad reads an English story to me first. Then it's Mom's turn to read me a Japanese story. In my family, though both my parents can speak the two languages very well, we speak English more often than Japanese, so I find listening to Japanese stories challenging. I ask many questions when Mom reads Japanese stories to me.

Mom is not very happy about my Japanese and she is thinking about sending me to a Sunday school to learn Japanese. I don't want to get too busy on Sunday. I need some playtime, so I tell Mom that I will read more Japanese books on weekdays. Mom agrees with me.

One day, I happened to meet an Englishman in a store and soon we began to talk. As I was talking about how I was studying English, the foreigner seemed to be very surprised, gently shaking his head and saying, "You don't say! You don't say!"

I was puzzled（困惑的）, and I thought, "Perhaps this is not a right thing to talk about."So I said to him,"Well, shall we talk about the Great Wall? Have you ever been there?" "Certainly. When I'm back home, everyone will laugh at me if I leave here without seeing it. The Great Wall is wonderful!" he answered. "Yes, it is one of the wonders in the world. And people from all over the world have come to visit it," I added. As I was telling him more about it, he said again, "You don't say!" I couldn't help asking, "Why do you ask me not to talk about it?" "Well, I didn't ask you to do so,"he answered, greatly surprised. "Didn't you say ‘You don't say!'?" I asked again. Hearing this, the foreigner laughed loudly. He began to explain. " ‘You don't say!' means‘Really?'. Perhaps you know little about English idioms（习惯用语）."

Wow! How foolish I was! Since then I have been careful with English idioms. 

There is a tree near a river. A lot of bees (蜜蜂) are making their house here. They 1 around flowers and get their food. They keep doing their work all the day. One fine day, a bee wants to go to the 2 to drink some water. When the bee tries to drink, the 3 blows it away. The bee fell (掉) into the river.

I am John. My family and I move to a new house. In my room, the books are always in the bookcase. My computer games are always there, too. My balls are always in the box under the bed. My schoolbag is always on the sofa. I clean my room three times a week. 

I have a brother. His name is Alan. His room is always in a mess. His books are everywhere. They are on the bed, on the sofa and under the desk. His computer games are on the bed. His jacket is on the sofa. Where is his schoolbag? Oh, it's under the bed. Our parents say, "Alan, come in. Look at your room. You must learn(学习) to be a tidy boy. "
