When I was in the middle school, I seldom raised my hands to answer questions in class. And I found lots of my classmates were just like me. When the teacher asked a question, I always lowered my head because I was afraid that the teacher saw me.

Humans invented plastic but it has a much {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(long ) life than its inventors. We can make choices about {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we buy . And we can buy less .

An English philosopher called Mary Wollstonecraft , who was born in 1759, was very {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( interest ) in how people spent their money . She {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( try) to encourage people to think hard about what they really needed before they made the decision to buy. If we buy less , then we waste less!So, reducing waste is not a new idea but it is one that we need to think about {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( creative ), because now there is much waste that Mary would never have imagined !

I was on a train in Switzerland. The train came to a stop and a man said something, but I didn't know the language. Everyone started to get out of the train. An old woman saw me still sitting there. She could speak a little English and told me what the man said. She asked me where I was going. Then she talked with some other people, then came back, and told me that we had to take other trains to get there.

I was really lucky to meet the old woman. because I knew I couldn't take the right train by myself. Then we went from one train station to the next. The old woman was really kind. When we got to the last station, we left and said goodbye. Luckily, I got on my train to Rome in time. The old woman told me she also had to catch another train. I found that she needed to spend two hours going back home.

I was moved(感动) that day. An old woman spent so much time on trains just to help out a stranger.

Jean Driscoll was born to be a sport player. Though she was born with a problem in her spine (脊 柱 ), it did not stop her. In fact, she has won the wheelchair division(轮椅组) of the Boston Marathon seven times. She has also won medals in shorter races at the Paralympics.

 As a child, Driscoll had to wear crutches ( 拐 杖) to help her walk. However, she enjoyed sports with other kids and taught herself to ride a bike.

At the age of 14, she fell off her bike and hurt her hip(臀部), with the result that she had to use a wheelchair.

 At first, Driscoll was afraid that being in a wheelchair would mean the end of her sports dream. But a friend introduced her to wheelchair soccer, sparking her interest in wheelchair sports. By the time she entered college, she had become a good sport player in various wheelchair sports, including soccer, tennis, basketball, and ice hockey. When she was in college, she was noticed by a basketball coach.

 Encouraged by the coach, she took part in a marathon race and managed to enter the finals, the Boston Marathon. To prepare for it, she started five months of hard training. She trained six days a week. In the gym, Driscoll lifted 200- pound weights, which were almost twice her body weight. Outdoors Driscoll often ran along the road in, her whee1chair for 40 kilometers without a break. She even trained to climb hills by having three people hold on to the back of her chair.

 Today, Jean Driscoll still remains a top sport player. She travels across the country, giving speeches to motivate kids to do their best. Her message to her audiences is clear and powerful:" Dream big and work hard."

 From voluntarily collecting historical materials related to the Great Wall in his Shanxi hometown in Province to becoming an official cultural heritage protector, Yuan Xuerui has spent over twenty years safeguarding the ancient wonder.

 China's Great Wall is one of the great wonders of the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built from 3 BC to the 1800s on the north of the country, the Great Wall has a total length of more than 20,000 kilometers.

 Yuan, 55, was born in Qingxibao at the foot of the ancient wall in Shanxi' s Daixian county, which is part of the city of Xinzhou. His love for the ancient wall motivated(激励) him to protect it, and when not engaged (从事) in farm work, he spent most of his time walking along the wall to collect bricks that had fallen off due to the long time and prepare for repairs. "What others think as a difficult and dull task of cultural heritage protection often brings me unexpected discoveries," Yuan said.

 He officially became a cultural heritage worker in 2018, and since then his duties have expanded from collecting bricks to organizing ancient documents related to the wall to better tell stories about it. As a heritage worker, Yuan has come to understand the meaning of the Great Wall."Each brick has endured(忍受) the test of time over hundreds of years — in some cases more than a thousand— carrying rich historical memories," he said.

 This summer, Yuan organized a campaign to call for people to collect bricks for the future repair of the wall. Many bricks were taken away from the Great Wall by local villagers to build their houses in the 1960s and 1970s. "As villagers' awareness of the need to protect the wall has grown, nowadays, when locals find fallen bricks along the Great Wall, they will pick them up," he said. "If they see garbage, they will also pick it up and throw it into bins."
