I live on a farm in Japan. My parents are farmers. These days, we meet a problem; Some bears often come to our farm. Sometimes they eat plants. Sometimes they even hurt family animals. We are all afraid of them. 

To work out the problem, we have got an idea. Bears are always afraid of big wolves, so we buy two Monster Wolf robots. They are big and strong with two red eyes. They can make sounds like real wolves do. We hope the robotic wolves can drive(驱赶) bears away.  ▲ When the bears see the wolves, they are afraid and go away. 

Now it's winter. Bears need to sleep in winter. They won't come to our farm any more in the next months. The robotic wolves will start to work again next spring. The robotic wolves help us a lot and they make our life different. And I'm really happy to have them. 

We can make mistakes at any age. And most mistakes are about people. "Did Jerry really care when I broke my leg?" "When I got that great job, did Jim really feel good about it, as a friend? Or did he envy(嫉妒) my luck?" When we look back, doubts like these can make us feel bad. But when we look back, it's too late.

 ①  Why do we go wrong about our friends or our enemies? Sometimes what people say hides their real meaning. ②   Suppose(假设) someone tells you, "You're a lucky dog." That's being friendly.   ③   But "lucky dog"? There's a bit of envy in those words. Maybe he doesn't see it himself. But bringing in the "dog" puts you down a little. What he may be saying is that he doesn't think you deserve your luck.   ④  

"Just think of all the things you should be thankful for" is another noise that says one thing and means another. It could mean that the speaker is trying to get you to see your problem as part of your life as a whole. But is he? The thought in this phrase is that your problem isn't important. It's telling you to think of all the starving(挨饿的) people in the world when you haven't got the new bike you want.

How can you tell the real meaning behind someone's words? One way is to take a good look at the person talking. Do his words fit the way he looks? Does what he says agree with the tone of voice? His posture? The look in his eyes? Stop and think, The minute you spend thinking about the real meaning of what people say to you may save another mistake.

Schools change PE classes to help students recover* from COVID-19*.

On March 17, Beijing made changes to the PE test in the 2023 zhongkao: All students will get good scores if they take the exam. 

Some cities such as Taiyuan canceled* the 1, 000-meter and 800-meter runs. Other cities like Wenzhou let students choose if they would like to run in the exam. This is to make it safe for students after recovering from COVID-19.

Knowing about your health

At the start of the term, every student in Xi'an Jingkai No. 3 Middle School did a survey*.

A company called SkyDrive showed its new flying car，the SD—03.The small car could stay about 1 to 2 meters above the ground，and fly around for 4 minutes with a driver on board.

In China, people's living conditions in the cities have changed a lot in the ways of transport in the past fifty years. A survey shows that the number of people riding a bike or walking is always decreasing. In 1974, more than 50% of people travelled to work on their own bikes, while by 2014, less than 20% of travellers preferred cycling or walking to work. Now the number becomes much smaller. 

At the same time, there was a large increase in the use of cars. In 1974, very few people had a car. By 1994, about a quarter of travellers drove to work. This increased again, until 2014, about one third of travellers drove to work. 

 ▲  The main reason is that people's living conditions have changed greatly. With the increasing number of people going by bus or car, fewer and fewer people would like to be cyclists or walkers. 

As people enjoyed the convenience and speed of buses and cars, they are less likely to have patience and interest in cycling and walking. In the future, with the development of science and technology, more changes will happen in people's everyday lives.
