In China, people's living conditions in the cities have changed a lot in the ways of transport in the past fifty years. A survey shows that the number of people riding a bike or walking is always decreasing. In 1974, more than 50% of people travelled to work on their own bikes, while by 2014, less than 20% of travellers preferred cycling or walking to work. Now the number becomes much smaller.
At the same time, there was a large increase in the use of cars. In 1974, very few people had a car. By 1994, about a quarter of travellers drove to work. This increased again, until 2014, about one third of travellers drove to work.
▲ The main reason is that people's living conditions have changed greatly. With the increasing number of people going by bus or car, fewer and fewer people would like to be cyclists or walkers.
As people enjoyed the convenience and speed of buses and cars, they are less likely to have patience and interest in cycling and walking. In the future, with the development of science and technology, more changes will happen in people's everyday lives.
Martin D12 Guitar for Sale I'm selling my used Martin D12 guitar, bought in 2010. It has been sitting in its box for years as I've no interest in touching it. I'm asking for $800. The box is included. The price of the guitar was $1,100 when I bought it. It's in perfect condition, except for some scratches (划痕) on the front of the guitar. They don't influence its sound. I'll post the guitar after you buy it. My name is Mike Evers. My e-mail address is mevers@126.com. |
From: Dora Swift (doras@pnet.com) To: mevers@126.com Subject: Martin D12 Guitar Hi, Mike, I saw your ad and I'm interested in the guitar, but I have a few questions. Where does the guitar come from? I searched online, and it seems that American model has a maple (械木) neck, while the neck of the model from other countries is made of worse wood. If you know where it was made, that would answer my question. I'd also like to ask you if you could keep the guitar for a couple of weeks. I'm abroad now, but I'm coming back on the twelfth of next month, and I'd like to try it out first. I can offer $20 more for you on top of the $800 that you're asking for. Let me know if you can wait. Thanks! Yours, Dora |

Here is some cool information about the world's population.
| It took 12 years for the world's population to grow from 7 billion to 2022's 8 billion. But it will take about 15 years for the population to reach 9 billion. That's because fewer babies are born now. In 50 years, this can slow the growth of the world's population. |
The day on which the world's population grows by one billion is important. The United Nations chooses a baby born on that day as the symbolic (象征的) baby. For example, the world's population reached 8 billion on November 15, 2022. Vinice Mabansag was born on that day and she became the symbolic 8 billionth baby. | |
More boys than girls are born around the world. There are 106 baby boys born for every 100 baby girls. There are 1.8 billion people between the ages of 10 and 24. That's the largest number ever. |
