When do children start to talk? If you ask a group of parents when this happened, most will say "around twelve months of age". They will probably even remember what the children said. Many parents keep a diary of their child's "first words"

We can never predict what a first word is going to be. Often it's the name for "mummy" or "daddy", but it could just as easily be the word for an animal or a favorite toy. Everything depends on what has most caught the child's attention. But one thing is certain: after the first word, others come quickly. By 18 months, most children have learned about 50 words. By two, the total has risen to around 200.

Early words are actually one-word sentences. One of the first features(特征)of language a child learns well is to control the rise and fall of the voice to make the difference between stating and questioning. In English, daddy with a high rising tone(声调)means "is that daddy?" Daddy with a high falling tone means "There's daddy". Of course, only very basic meanings can be communicated using tones alone. So it soon becomes necessary to learn some grammar.

In English, grammar means learning to put words in different orders. Children have to see that mummy push is different from push mummy. They start practising such changes at around 18 months. By two, they have learned the basic patterns of word order, and we hear them saying such things as man kick ball and where daddy go.

What are the parents doing all his time? They're acting as teachers and they always have an active role to play in their child's language learning.

"How was your weekend?" "Did you see the game on TV last night?" "Isn't the weather beautiful today?" These questions and the answers to them are examples of "small talk" — the short, friendly conversations that people have with friends and parents.

Some people avoid making small talk at work. They think they shouldn't talk about things that aren't important for the job, or their partners will think they aren't serious about their work. And some people just don't enjoy making small talk about themselves.

But small talk is important! Knowing how to make small talk is a skill that can help you a lot. By making small talk, you show that you're friendly and interested in your partners. You become a better team member. If you don't make small talk, others might feel uncomfortable around you and think you're unfriendly. Peter Harper, a manager at the Apex Company in the USA,says, "We always look for friendly workers who know how to communicate with each other and with our customers (顾客)."

Here are some tips for successful small talk. You can talk about safe topic such as the weather, sports, hobbies, TV programs and famous people like movie stars, singers, etc. You can also share some information about your family such as birthday parties and other family events, but don't share very personal information like family problems. You can talk about the news too, but avoid topics on money, age, weight and so on.

Listening is an important part of small talk. Listen carefully to what the other person is saying and ask questions. Don't just talk about yourself. And remember to smile! Making small talk takes practice. The more you do it, the better you'll be at making small talk!

Life is like a journey. None of us can predict the destination(终点)of this journey. During this journey. we will enjoy beautiful scenery and meet bad weather. People have different experiences,but in this journey,we should have a dream and hold it until the end of our journey.

We can't set our goals too high,which will make us have no time to enjoy ourselves along the way. Every day,we have to move forward in a hurry,there are many higher mountains waiting for us to climb. That way,we may give up our dreams,but also live for ourselves.

Learn to love. During the journey of life,we are not alone. There are many people with us:family,friends,including strangers. Be nice to others,and the world will be nice to us.

Treat the journey of life calmly and patiently,wait for the flowers to bloom and fall,and enjoy the clouds. The beauty of peace of mind is even more fascinating. A calm heart is like a clear blue sky without dark clouds,and like the light on green leaves,giving us hope and courage.

All in all,we should value everyone,everything and every scenery we see. Life is too short. Be kind to yourself. Live in the present and let life show its beauty

The Feyman Technique(费曼学习法) was developed by Nobel Prize-winning physicist(物理学家)Richard Feynman. It's a study method that helps students learn by teaching others.

The Feyman Technique has been one of the most effective study methods for many years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just memorizing information. Plus, unlike traditional study methods like re-reading textbooks or reviewing notes, it pushes students to be more actively involved(参与) in the learning process.

If you want to use the Feynman Technique to study better, follow these steps. To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn, including sub-topics(子主题). If not, you'll end up jumping between topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them.

The second step is the heart of the Feynman Technique: explaining the topic simply enough to be understood by a sixth-grade student. This requires you to help the child understand by using the simplest and clearest language. This step helps divide indigestible topics into their most basic parts.

Next, review your explanation and try to find any area where you felt that you couldn't explain the topic simply. When possible, it can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grader.

The fourth step is to improve your explanation using the information collected from the third step. Finally, repeat the steps. The Feynman Technique works best with repetition, and that is why going through all the prior(先前的)steps just once is usually not enough to fully understand the topic.

Once you're confident you've learned the topic, it's time to give yourself-a prize. Perhaps, like me, enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
