安徽省安庆市金社中学2012届八年级下学期竞赛英语考试试卷

根据短文理解,选择正确答案。

    Expert(专家)say that students usually need eight to ten hours' sleep at night, but most Chinese students do not get enough sleep. Some Chinese parents are usually glad to see their children studying late. They will think their children work very hard, but not all parents are happy about this. Once a mother told us that every morning her 10-year-old boy put up one finger(手指)with his eyes still closed, begging(请求)for one more minute to sleep. Like thousands of students "early birds" in China, he has to get up before six every morning.

    A report shows that without a good night's sleep, students seem to be weaker(虚弱)than they should be. Many students have fallen asleep(睡觉) during class at one time or another. Too much homework is not the only reason why students stay up late. Some watch TV or play the computer games late into the night.

    Experts have ever said that the students should develop good study habits. So some clever students never study late, they are able to work well in class.

(1)、The 10-year-old boy begged for more minute to sleep because__________.
A、he didn't have enough sleep    B、it wasn't time for him to get up C、he didn't want to go to school D、he wanted his mother to wake him up
(2)、In this passage we know if students don't get enough sleep, they may ________.
A、become too weak to sleep B、not work well in class C、go to bed early D、be weak in English
(3)、In this passage "early birds" means "persons who ______________."
A、get up early B、get up late C、sleepless D、don't want to sleep
(4)、"Stay up late" here means "_____________."
A、study late B、watch TV late C、not go to bed until late D、stay outside
(5)、According to the passage, which of the following is right? _________
A、If you want to study better, you must work hard at night. B、Sleeping less means working hard. C、Some clever students are able to work well in class because they have good study habits. D、Students don't have enough sleep because they have lots of homework to do.

Sun Jiarui, a 10-year-old girl from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, recently has become famous online for her cooking skills. Sun has learnt to cook from her father for two years and now she can cook more than 50 dishes. Can you cook? If so, what dishes are you good at?

For middle and primary school students, being able to cook has become a must. A new curriculum(课程) standard for labor(劳动) education has come out. Starting from 2022 fall term, students are required to take courses on labor skills. The standard includes different labor tasks. The first is daily housework, including cleaning, organizing, cooking, and repairing home appliances. The next is productive(生产的) labor, such as doing farm work, making traditional handicrafts(手工艺品), and using new technologies like 3D printing. One more type is community work.

Labor education aims to develop students' basic life skills and good working habits. School education didn't value(重视) it in the past. According to a report in 2019, it takes Chinese kids only 12 minutes a day to do housework, compared to 72 minutes for American students each day and 30 minutes for French students.

Liu Fang, a mother of 6-year-old twins in Beijing, is a strong supporter of labor education. In the past year, she has trained her daughters to do housework. "By doing housework, their hand-eye coordination(协调), time management and organization skills can be trained and it's also good to help them relax, " said Liu. Through such education, her daughters have found fun in doing housework and are more independent.

After a long vacation from school, it's often hard to get back into the study routine. Your mind is probably filled with short-term memory gaps and new experiences that make you feel like your brain has been taking a long nap. Since schools will go back to their normal system, students also need to get ready early. Here are some simple tips that can help you get back into the swing of studying:

Create the desire (欲望) to learn.

The driving force behind achieving success in life is desire. As a student, you must have the desire to lean. When there is a desire to learn, it will help you get back to your study habit faster. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Learning can be difficult, but fear and worrying won't solve the problem either.

Make a list of priorities.

Once you've got the basics down, it's time to make a list of what's important. This is the most important step in any plan: you have to put your tasks in order and make sure they're not all piled up on top of each other. Don't forget that there are also time limits involved. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Find a way to track your progress.

There are several ways to make sure you keep track of your progress. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If not, then find one online or at school, and make sure it's easy to find when you need it. This way, even if you forget what day a task is due (到期), there will always be some kind of reminder nearby to tell you when things need to be done next time.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

It's okay to ask for help. You don't have to do it alone, and the more people who help you, the better. You will learn from their experiences and feel more confident by being able to make your own decisions when needed.

Getting back into studying can be a challenge; knowing how to handle it will help you in your future studies.

A. You must keep away from all kinds of fear.

B. Use a calendar if you have one in your room.

C. The first battle you need to win is in your mind.

D. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

E. This way, you can make sure you're spending your time wisely.

Among the four tips mentioned in the passage, which one do you think is the most important? Why? (不超过20词){#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Do you want to have good friends? Here are some tips for you.

Choosing Friends

Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be   friends with. Most people like to have friends with the same interests. But   that doesn't mean you have to be like each other. It's OK if you enjoy   some different things.

Making Friends

◆ The quickest way to make friends is to smile (微笑). Remember   that most people hate an angry face.

◆ One easy way to start a conversation (对话) with someone is to   say something nice. For example, you could talk about a great answer to a   teacher's question, a good game at the ball field (场地) and so on.

◆ Ask your new friends questions about themselves. "Who' s your   favorite singer? Where do you live? What do you do after school?" are all   good questions.

◆ If you show an interest in other kids and are kind and friendly,   you can make good friends.

Having Activities

It's always fun to play your favorite   activities with your friends together. For   example, you can make your friendship   closer by inviting a friend to your house.   Make sure the activities can be done   together. You may both love playing   computer games, but if one person is   playing and the other has nothing to do but watch, it's not fun.

Friendship is an important part in our life, because friends make us   happy and support (支持) us through hard times. If you are still waiting   for your"friends", start with the tips above.
