Shut Up Zoos, Not Animals!

You may think that visiting zoos is harmless fun, but you're wrong because zoos are just prisons(监狱) for animals. The difference is that prisoners get out after a few years! Animals in cages look bored and are boring to look at. After all, we all know what an elephant looks like, we've seen them on TV. So why make animals suffer by shutting them up for our fun? Shut up the zoos instead!

I partly agree. But some zoos aren't there for our fun. I've just got back from Jersey Zoo. It saves rare animals and breeds them. Then it returns the babies to the wild. Not all zoos are the same, you know.

Quite agree! Every time I go to the zoo, I never look into the poor animals' eyes! Kept in the small and smelly cages, they look so lonely and sad. Hope one day they will return to nature, where they can live happily and freely with their families.

Personally, I think zoos are fantastic places for children. They can play with animals and enjoy themselves so much there. Also, they learn a lot about animals. Why shut up?

I know how hard it is to make friends in a new school. I once joined the football team and the music club in my school of Toronto. I was very popular at that time and made a lot of friends. It made me very happy and my school life was very great.

Everything became different when I was 16 years old, because my parents decided to move to    Florida. Who can quickly adapt to (适应) a completely strange environment? So changing to a new   school was not easy for me. At the beginning, days in the new school were much more different than I thought. The class schedule (时间表) was different, and the teachers and students were strange and fresh to me. Some kids tried to be nice to me, but I was afraid to have a talk with them.

After staying in the new school for a few weeks, I realized that no one tried to communicate with me anymore, so I began to feel lonely. Two months later we had a course that required teamwork. Then, all the students came to study and even tried to help each other. I realized that they were hard-working and friendly just like me. I began to make friends with them. Several years later, we still keep in touch with each other and they have become a great treasure to me.

Sometimes, if we can't change the environment around us, change ourselves in time. And try to get used to the life in different places.

Come to learn Swedish(瑞典语). It seems challenging, but it could be easier if you are a good English speaker. The two languages have a lot more in common than you think.

The Swedish alphabet(字母表)is almost the same as the English alphabet , but has three more letters: A, Ä and Ö. Although some letters, like O and Ö look alike, they are actually different. Take the Swedish words "lov" and "löv" as an example. The word "lov" can refer to holidays while "löv" translates to "leaves".

Many words are close in Swedish and English. "Bok" in Swedish is only a one-letter change to "book", "äpple" is an easy change to "apple" and "man" and "piano" are the same in both languages. However, there are special suffixes(后缀), such as "-en" and "-t", to stand for "the" in English. For example, "boken" in Swedish means "the book" in English.

Another similarity is the word order. It's often possible to directly translate sentences between the two languages. One big difference is that Swedish always puts the verb(动词)in the second place of a sentence. Although in English sentences, words like "always" or "hardly" often appear in the second place. Swedish is very strict about that verb-second rule and will put them after the verb.

There are many reasons that make Swedish hard, but with your English learning experience, you'll find it easier.

Have you ever shown your photos on your favorite social media(媒体)? Or have you expressed your feelings and emotions on your online page? If yes, do you know what you have posted on the social medias can cause problems you could not expect?

Cathy, who is going to be fifteen, posted online an invitation to her birthday party with her address in it. And guess what! 500 people came to the party, and some even broke the windows and plants, making a total mess of the house. The girl's birthday party turned into a nightmare(噩梦).

Many teenagers(青少年)think they know everything about social media, and that such a thing could never happen to them. Studies show that each year more than three million young people in the world get into trouble because of their online activities.

So do remember these if you really want to share something online.

Share with care! Not everyone will like what you write online. Think before you post anything. You never know who sees your texts, pictures or videos. Before clicking "post", you should ask yourself, "How will I feel if my family or teachers see this?" and "How might this post be bad for me in five or ten years from now?"

Be polite when you write! Imagine someone is unfriendly in real life. The same is true of online communication. No one likes it when you "shout" in your messages. If you feel angry or frustrated while you're writing a message. Read it again later and then send it.

Protect and respect! Never share your passwords with anyone. It's not wise to post your home or email address online. Don't say bad things about people. If you get messages like that or see them online, talk to your parents or your teachers.

I'd say none of these things promises 100% online safety, but each will help you to be safer.
