You are running around in the park. But then suddenly,you fall and hurt yourself. "Ow!" you cry. This sound is very familiar to us all. Crying out when we get hurt is a natural reaction. But what is it about this sound that makes us shout it out?

Scientists from the National University of Singapore now believe they've found the answer. The effort of shouting the word "ow" actually interferes (干预) with pain messages traveling to the brain. So by shouting it out,it distracts us from the feeling of pain.

The scientists tested how long volunteers could hold their hands in very cold water. There were five rounds of the test. In the first round,they were allowed to shout "ow" when they felt pain. In another round,they had to stay silent.

The results showed that volunteers were able to keep their hands in the cold water for longer when they were allowed to shout out. They managed around 30 seconds on average,five seconds more than when they had to remain silent.

"We found that a simple vocal act such as saying 'ow' helps individuals deal with pain," the report from the scientists stated.

What's more, expressions of pain are shared among languages. While cries of "ow" or "ouch" are heard in English,South Africans yell "eina"

Scientists said in the report: "Shared among these languages is a sound during which the mouth simply opens, the tongue lies flat (水平的) and the lips unrounded. It is a simple sound that requires little control while maximizing (充分利用)

Dopamine (多巴胺), known as the "source of pleasure", is a chemical released in the brain that makes you feel good. But do you know "dopamine dressing"? It is one of the most popular fashion{#blank#}1{#/blank#} for 2023. Many people take this style to fight back bad feelings and show {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

First created by American fashion psychologist Dawnn Karen in her book Dress Your Best Life in 2020, dopamine dressing is dressing for joy. It encourages people to choose colorful clothing so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} they can get more dopamine and feel happier.

But is there {#blank#}4{#/blank#} any science behind this? According to Science Focus magazine, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} there is no study about how colorful clothes can increase dopamine, there are studies showing a relationship between the clothes we wear and how we act and feel. One study showed that wearing red can {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to better physical performance. It found that in soccer matches over the last 55 years, teams with red clothes always played better in home games {#blank#}7{#/blank#} many other clothes colors. Another study showed that wearing green can make people become more {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Green has also been found to help people relax, likely because it reminds us of nature. Yellow, and its suggestions of summer and warmth, can bring people happiness, energy and excitement.

So {#blank#}9{#/blank#} not try dopamine dressing? You can try one thing at a time. Here is some expert-backed advice:

Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, does a lot of exercise, and has a healthy body If you're fit, you body works well and can do all the things you want it to do. What can you do if you want to be fit? Here are three rules.

Eat various foods, especially fruits and vegetables.

You may have a favorite food, but you'd better eat various foods. If you eat different foods, you're more likely to get the nutrients(营养物质) your body needs. Eat at least two servings(份)of fruits and three servings of vegetables every day.

Listen to your body.

What does it feel like to be full? When you're eating, pay attention(注意) to how your body feels. Sometimes, people eat too much. Eating too much can make you feel uncomfortable and can lead to unhealthy weight again.

Have less screen time

What's screen time? It's time you spend watching TV or using the computer. The more time you spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time you got for sports, like playing basketball and swimming. Try to spend no more than two hours a day on watching TV or using the computer.

Parents can be a big help if you want to be a fit kid. Tell your parents about the rules you want to follow and maybe they can teach you a thing or two.

Topic: {#blank#}1{#/blank#}should a kid do if he wants to be fit?

Being fit means a person who eats well, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a lot of exercise and has a healthy body.

Rules you

can follow:

You must eat {#blank#}3{#/blank#}foods, especially fruits and vegetables. In this way, it's more likely for you to get the nutrients.

Eating too much can make us feel {#blank#}4{#/blank#}and lead to unhealthy weight again

You must spend less time on screen. If you spend less time watching TV or computer programmer, you will get more time for sports.

Do you want to be a in kid? What can you do?{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

 B. 根据短文内容和所给中文提示, 用恰当的单词或单词的正确形式完成以下短文。

Paper was created by Cai Lun about AD 105. Before the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(发明) of paper, people wrote words on leaves, animal skins or rocks. In ancient China, people used bamboo strips(竹简) to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(记录) important events but they were very heavy and took up a lot of space. Later. Chinese people created a kind of paper which was made of silk. This kind of paper was too expensive to be widely used. After years of hard work, Cai Lun {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(设法做成) to make paper by using pieces of old cloth, fishing nets and other materials. After he made it, paper started to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(传播) from China to other places. With paper, people could write down more things and share ideas more easily. It made learning and teaching much {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(有影响力的).

Nowadays, with the rapid development of the Internet, many people think the Internet {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(取代) paper in the near future. That's because many people {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(主要地) get information from the Internet. However, paper is still very  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(有用的). We can write our {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (感觉) and thoughts on paper. So we should continue to take {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(自豪) in paper making.
