    Water covers most of our planet. People canfind it in oceans, lakes and rivers, and under the ground. Water moves in theenvironment by evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The warm Sun helpswater change into vapour and rise up into the sky. It is evaporation. Thevapour in the air forms clouds in the sky. It is condensation. When the cloudsget heavy enough, the water falls back to the ground as rain or snow. This isprecipitation.

    Ocean water has too much salt in it. Muchof the water travels far over the land. When it travels over the land, thewater picks up salt from the rocks and soil. About 97.5% of the Earth's wateris salty water. It is expensive to take salt out of the water.

    All people need clean water. They need itfor drinking, for cooking, and for bathing. Some people in a village in SouthAmerica did not have clean water. Their water was full of oil and dirty things.People there got sick when they drank the water. Other people heard about theproblem. They sent empty water tanks (储水池) tothe village. Rainwater fell into the tanks. Now the people in that village havethe clean water.

Students usually go to school in different ways. In our school, most students get to school between7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Some arrive on foot, and some take the bus. However, eighty percent of the students arrive in their parents' cars. The entrance (入口) to the school is crowded and dangerous. I think cars are the main problem. I think there are a few things we can do.

First, we should encourage students to take the bus or walk to school. Taking the bus can help cut down air pollution. Walking is healthier, too. Next, what should parents do if their children have to come to school by car? I think their parents should park their cars far away from the school entrance. For example, they can park their cars at the end of the street. Finally, in my opinion, when parents park dangerously in front of the school entrance, they will be punished and have to pay some money — a fine. This way, they will be cautious and think twice before parking.

In a word, cars are making it dangerous for students to enter the school safely. Therefore, encouraging students to walk to school, or asking parents to park away from the school gate could solve this problem.

Bill Gates was born on October 28th, 1955. When he was 13 years old, Bill started to play{#blank#}1{#/blank#} computers. At that time, computers {#blank#}2{#/blank#} very large machines. Once（曾经） he was{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in a very old computer. He and some of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} friends spent lots of time {#blank#}5{#/blank#}unusual（不同寻常的） things with it. In the end, they worked out a software program with the old machine. Bill sold（卖）, 200 dollars when he was only 17. In 1973, Bill {#blank#}6{#/blank#}to Harvard University. At Harvard, he developed the BASIC language for the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}microcomputer（微型计算机）. In his third year, he {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Harvard to work for a company called Microsoft. Bill began this company in 1975 with his friend Paul Allen. They thought that the computer would be a very{#blank#}9{#/blank#} tool（工具） in every office and in every home, so they began developing software for personal （个人的）computers. Many westerner find it interesting that Chinese people always carry a vacuum cup(保温杯). If you go to a western restaurant, they usually serve you a cup of cold water with ice. And when you ask if they can change to hot water, you may receive a strange look from the waiter or people nearby. Hot water? Seriously?

So hot water VS cold water, which one is better?

By 1930s, the water was polluted in China. In order to protect people from illnesses, the government suggested drinking boiled water, because they considered it a way to kill off bacteria(细菌). People at that time always boiled water and stored it in vacuum bottle to keep it warm for the day. Even now, you can find hot water everywhere. While for western countries, many people died of the plague(鼠疫). They took water quality seriously from then on, so that people can drink water directly rather than boil it.

You may also discover that Chinese people prefer hot meals. Some parents always teach their children to drink hot soup with meals, because they think mixing cold water with hot meals is really bad for the stomach. According to the eating habits in western countries, they prefer "raw" food, so they also prefer their water "raw". They also like hamburgers and fried food, which are all with high fat, so they need cold drinks to cool them off.

Drinking hot or cold water also has something to do with medicine beliefs. In traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese people consider drinking hot water washes away the coldness in one's body, and thus build up your body. However, most westerners believe that drinking hot water may be bad for your body. Drinking hot water too often will make your body unable to stand water below your body temperature.

You may find out that there is no answer to this question. The causes are different, so don't feel strange next time you see a Chinese ask for hot water, just show your respect.

 It's considered that the writing brush is the most important one among the Four Treasures of Chinese Study. In Chinese calligraphy(书法) and Chinese painting, the writing brush is widely used. In ancient China, children had to learn calligraphy and try to write a good hand. Even the emperors were good at calligraphy. Nowadays, some Chinese people still practice calligraphy with a writing brush from a very young age. Calligraphy is beneficial to people in some ways. When writing, people will forget all worries and even themselves, turning all thoughts into the beauty of art. People think it helps improve a person's temper(脾气).

 Writing or painting with writing brushes is not only a way of communication, but also a way of expressing a person's inner world.
