Humans are born with the ability to communicate, but some people are better at it than others. Some people are very good at words, and find it easy to express {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （they）well. Other people find it difficult to express their ideas to other people, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （especial）in public. The good news is that communication skills can {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （learn）. Here are some pieces of advice. 

Look at people in the eyes when you speak {#blank#}4{#/blank#} them. It makes you seem more honest, open and friendly, and people will find it {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （easy）and more fun to talk to you. 

Practice listening to other people. The most important part of communication {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （be）listening. That is why we have two ears {#blank#}7{#/blank#} one mouth. When you listen to people, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （watch）their faces and body language will help you understand {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they mean. 

Think before you open your mouth. The best communicators express their {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （idea）in short and simple ways. If you are trying to convince（使信服）people of something, be clear and use as few words as possible. 

Harry and Annie live a mile from the town, but they walk there to school every day. It is a pleasant walk around the pond* on their way to school. In winter, when the ice is thick and hard, they go across the pond. But their mother doesn't like them to do it unless* someone is with them.

"Don't go across the po nd today, children,"she says, as she kisses them goodbye one morning."It is    beginning to thaw."

"All right, mother,"says Harry, not very happy, for he likes running and skating on the ice very much.

When they come to the pond, the ice looks hard and safe.

"There,"Harry says to his sister,"Let's skate over it."

"But you promise mother,"says Annie.

"No, I don't. I only say‘All right', and it is all right."

"I don't say anything, so I can do as I like,"says Annie.

So they step on the ice and start to go across the pond.

They don't go far before the ice melts*, and suddenly they fall into the water.

A man who is at work near the po nd hears the children asking for help and rushes into the water to save them. They are almost drowned * before the man can reach them.

They get home almost frozen* and learn a lesson they will remember for a lifetime.

Welcome to the unusual world of sneezes (打喷嚏). Here is some interesting knowledge about it. 

②First, it all starts with a tickle (痒). Whether it's dust, pepper, or a sudden ray of sunshine, as long as your body thinks it might be something harmful, your brain gets a warning that it's time to sneeze. It's like the first sound in a sneezing concert. What's more, a sneeze is like a small pop. It can travel up to 100 miles per hour (160 km per hour)! Imagine your sneeze going past at the speed of a racing car. It's your nose's way of saying, "▲"

③After a sneeze, we often say "bless you". It's believed to stop you from evil spirits who're trying to get into your body during a sneeze. So, every "bless you" is like a mini exorcism (驱邪) for your nose. Also, one sneeze can start a chain reaction. Sneezes are a bit like a kind of disease which can spread from one to another. For example, once one person starts, it's hard for others not to join in. It's the social side of sneezing!

④Finally, did you know that some people close their eyes without thinking anything when they sneeze? It's like a built-n part of your body, and scientists aren't sure why it happens. 

⑤All in all, after knowing the unusual world of sneezes, we should let it be. The next time you feel a tickle in your nose and the feeling to sneeze, just accept it. It's not just a sneeze. Instead, it's an unusual, uncontrollable performance brought to you by the one and only, your fantastic nose!

Our school has a beautiful place. All students like togo there. It's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} small field (田地) in the northeast corner (东北角) of our campus (校园). {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (we) teacher always lets us work there to grow some vegetables. 

Every class has some {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (group). Each group has its job. Group A waters the vegetables. Group B makes records (记录). Group C cleans the field. . . Last year, we{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (grow) four different kinds of vegetables—tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and Chinese cabbages. 

No job in the world is easy. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} we like to experience (体验) the joy of labor (劳动). When we eat our own food, we feel {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (happy) than ever. 

Our teacher also {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (teach) us something about farming. We need {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (do)different farming work when in different Solar Terms (节气). We also sing some old Chinese poems (诗 歌) {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (loud) when we are in the field. 

We love this {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (interest) field class. We feel happy in it. 

Do you know that animals have love for each other and their children just like us humans? Let me tell you some moving stories of great animal parents.

Several years ago a heavy rain hit a town and made the river go up. When the rain stopped, people found that a dog swam to an island in the river twice a day for two weeks. Why did she do so? Her four children were there. The mother swam there every day to feed her babies. This true story moved many people.

Another story is about chimpanzees (黑猩猩). A scientist named Jane Goodall spent 4 years living with chimpanzees in Africa. She found that chimpanzees also cared for those that were hurt or got lost. "It is not only humans who have duties, animals also do," she said.

Two birds in Chengdu also showed their parental (父母的) love. Their baby was hurt and fell on the street in the center of the city. Cars were driving past but the brave parents rushed down to the road and took the little bird away with their claws (爪子).
