World Sleep Day fell on March 21 this year. And the theme was "Sleep equality for all people's health".

Chinese people sleep less than 7 hours every night, according to the result reported by the Chinese Sleep Research Society. Also, many Chinese people can't sleep well.

What should we do? First, try to use an alarm with softer and lower sounds because it is never fun for people to be woken up by a ringing alarm. Second, sleep early and get up early. Some young people may go to bed late at 2 am and get up at 10 am. They think that as long as they have 8 hours of sleep, everything will be fine. But in fact, our bodies can tell time. They use light and temperature to do so. If we wake up too late, our bodies might feel stuck (困于) between sleep and being awake. That's why we sometimes feel even more tired after oversleeping. So go to bed early and get up early. This is good for our health.

Yuju Opera, also called Henan Bangzi, is one of the most popular local operas all over the country.

Its earliest written record can be dated back more than 200 years. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the opera became widely spread across Henan Province. After 1949, it experienced rapid growth. At first, small performances were held in tea houses in the city of Kaifeng. Then it spread not only in the villages and cities of Henan Province but also all over the country. It became the third most popular style of Chinese opera in the country, just behind Peking Opera and Yue Opera.

Yuju Opera is well received by people because it is full of local flavor (风味) of life. At the beginning, it was loved by its simple folk stories and powerful arias (唱腔), without the use of make-up, costumes, or even instruments. As the art spread to other cities, new styles began to develop. Nowadays Yuju Opera is generally divided into four different styles: Xiangfu, Yudong, Yuxi, and Shahe.

There are over 600 pieces of Yuju Opera. The most popular of which are The Command MuGuiying and HuaMulan. While The Command MuGuiying is a folk tale that is not well-known outside of China, the story of Hua Mulan became the classic Disney film Mulan. It tells the tale of a young woman. She defies tradition and takes her elderly father's place in the army by dressing herself as a man. After 12 years of war, she is honored for her service and is able to return home. Mulan was the brave warrior (战士)!

With the popularity of Liyuan Spring and other programs, Yuju Opera also shows its new power and catches more young people's eyes.

A student walks into the teacher's office with his heavy schoolbag slowly and looks worried. "What's happening?" the teacher asks. He tells a lot of small things that make him really unhappy. Then the teacher stops working and decides to do something to help the little boy.

He asks the student to get a glass of water and some salt* from a box. The teacher asks the student to put the salt into the glass of water and drink it.

"How does it taste*?"the teacher asks.

"It doesn't taste good."the student answers.

The teacher doesn't say anything else, but asks the student to get the same amount* of salt and go with the teacher to a nearby lake.

"Put the salt into the lake,"the teacher says. The student does what the teacher says.

"Now, taste the water from the lake,"the teacher says.

The student gets some water from the lake with his hands and tastes, the teacher asks,"How does it taste?"

"Fresh and a bit sweet,"the student answers quickly.

"Do you taste the salt?"the teacher asks.

"No,"the student shakes his head.

The teacher sits beside the student,"The pain* of life is just like salt—no more, no less.

However, how salty it tastes depends* on the container* you put the pain in."

"How do you feel now?"asks the teacher.

The student looks at the teacher with a big smile. He feels much better now.

"Thank you for giving me such a lesson. I think I will never forget the taste of them and learn to be a lake."

An Interview with Andy Griffiths

Andy Griffiths is well known as a writer of children's books. Here are some interesting things you might not know about him.

What do you like to do after a long day of writing?

I go for long runs and bike rides beside the beach. An hour of exercise after a long day of writing gives me energy. Then I'm ready to write some more.

Do you write using a computer or by hand?

At first write the stories by hand, and then transfer (转录) them onto computer. I like to write by hand when travel. I find it very easy to lose myself in my diary when I am away from my usual activities.

What super power would you like to have?

X-ray-vision (影像) if can control it.

What is your favorite food?

I'm never happier than when I'm drinking banana milkshakes. And I love fish. But I don't like drinking fish milkshakes. They are just terrible!

What is your favorite book?

Alice in Wonderland. It has so many surprises and such silliness in it.

Do you write for adults too?

Only if I really have to. I much prefer the freedom and fun of writing for children.

What do you say to kids who say,"Why should I read?"

As Dr. Seuss says, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

 My two best friends and I were playing in the park near my house." Hey, look at that poster," Ollie shouted." The Harvest Fair sounds cool!"

" Yes! But S50 for a ticket?" said Marcya." That's a lot."

 After a while, we headed to my house. When we got home, Dad's friend Isaac came with six free tickets to the Harvest Fair. After Isaac left, Dad said," We have five people in our family. Wo'll have to find someone else who wants to go to the fair."

"I want to go!" said Mareya.

" So do I!" said Ollie.

 It took me one second to go from happy to awkward(尴尬的). Just then, my 80- year- old neighbour, Mrs Nish, came in."I just saw the poster. I love fairs! But tickets aren't cheap now."

 That's when Ollie got an idea. He quietly said something to Mareya, and Mareya told it to me, and I told it to my father.

" Well, we happen to have an extra(多余的) ticket to that fair! Would you like to join us?" my dad asked.

" Really?" Mrs Nish's face lit up." I'd like that very much!"

 Tho fair was fantasist. But the very best part was seeing Mrs Nish laughing. The next weekend, Ollie, Mareya, and I had our own Harvest Fair party at home. We played games and made a big pic while singing along to our favourite band Eagle Daze.
