A poor farmer had a friend who was famous for the wonderful apple trees he grew.

    One day, his friend gave the farmer a young apple tree and told him to plant it. The farmer was pleased with the gift, but he did not know where to plant it.

    He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the fruit. If he planted the tree in one of his fields, his neighbours would come at night and steal some of the apples. If he planted the tree near his house, his children would take the fruit. Finally he planted the tree in his woods. But without sunlight and good soil(土壤), the tree soon died.

    Later the friend asked the farmer why he had planted the tree in such a poor place. "What's the difference?" the farmer said angrily and then told what he had thought.

    "Yes, "said the friend, "but at least someone could have enjoyed the fruit. Now you not only have robbed everyone of the fruit, but also you have destroyed(毁掉) a good apple tree!"

    On April 8, a ceremony will break ground on a Disneyland theme park in Shanghai, China, after 10 years of negotiations（谈判） between Disney and the government.

    Disneyland Shanghai is set to open in 2016 in the Pudong district. It is the sixth Disneyland theme park around the world, in addition to Tokyo ,Hong Kong ,France as well as the Orlando in the US,

    Also, Disney is involved in Mandarin language co-productions on films such as Trail of the Panda. China's box office was up 64 percent in 2010, an sample of the growing economy. And there are discussions about building a cable television company.

    "The park has ambitions (夙愿)to be both really Chinese and really Disney," explained Greg Brown.The park will be 57 percent owned by Shanghai Shendi Group and 43 percent by Disney.

    One year, two Australians，Adam and Stephen，decided to go to Jamboree(童子军大会)by bike．It was in Sweden，about 20，000 kilometers from their home in Adelaide! They didn't take normal bikes；they took bikes with three wheels instead．These are more comfortable and easier to ride up hills．

    They took everything they needed．They had a tent each，things to cook with，clothes，maps，computers and phones，and things to repair the bikes．They also took their passports (护照)because they planned to travel through 22 different countries．

    The journey began in Australia but it didn't go well．After just a few days，Adam's bike broke．He left Stephen and went back home by coach (长途汽车)．He got a new wheel for his bike，then bought a plane ticket and flew to Perth．In Perth, he took a train to a town called Merridien．After he got off the train，he put his bike together and rode to meet Stephen．

    After that，they flew to Johannesburg and then they began their bike ride though Africa. They slept in tents by the road，and in some places they saw a lot of wild(野生的)animals .One night, they could hear lions ,and another night , an elephant walked past their tents．

In Europe, they rode up some very high mountains．And the most wonderful  thing， they thought，was that they saw snow for the first time in their lives．

    In every country，along the way，Adam and Stephen met a lot of interesting people and had lots of interesting people and had lots of adventures(奇遇)．The journey took 269 days．

    In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution(污染). They join “environment(环境) clubs ”. (1)In an environment club, people work together to make our environment clean. Here are some things students often do.

    No garbage(垃圾) lunches. How much do you throw away after lunch? Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags and the bags can be used again. If the classes make the least garbage, we will report them to the whole school!

No car day. On a no car day, nobody comes to school in a car—not the students and not the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember: Walk, jump, bike or run. Use your legs! It's lots of fun!

    Turn off the water! Did you know that some toilets(厕所) can waste(浪费) 20 to 40 m³ of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river! In environment clubs, students mend(修理) those broken toilets.

Your nose has many important jobs, and is always busy.

Smelling

    Smelling helps you gather information about the world around you. A good scent (气体),like flowers, brings you pleasure. A bad scent, like smoke or sour milk, warns you of danger. Most things around you release scent particles (微粒) into the air. These invisible chemicals enter the nose when you breathe. Nerves in the nose send information to the brain to identify a smell. You are able to recognize thousands of smells.

Breathing

    Most of the air you breathe enters through your nose. The nose uses hair and mucus (粘液) to clean dust and germs (细菌) out of the air. The air that enters your nose contains oxygen. Your body uses oxygen to unlock the energy in the food you eat.  Even when you sleep, your body needs energy to keep your heart beating and your brain working.

Tasting

    Your nose helps you enjoy food. Flavor is a mixture of taste and smell. The smell of the food helps you identify what you are eating. The sense of smell contributes more to (贡献) food flavor than the sense of taste .When you are sick and have a stuffy nose, your food doesn't taste as good because without smell, food loses most of its flavor.

Smell memory

    Smells can bring back memories. Your brain uses a process to create a picture in your mind from the odors(气味)you smell. Smells can affect your feelings because the part of the brain that helps you identify smells is close to the area that affects your emotions, mood and memory. More smell memories are collected as you get older.

    Your nose has many important jobs, and is more than just a smeller!
