A bus stops at the bus station. It's 8:30 a.m. Mr.Green looks out of the window and he sees a young woman. The woman is selling cakes. People from other buses buy a lot. He also wants to buy one. He doesn't have breakfast at home this morning. But the woman is far from his bus. And he doesn't want to go out.

At that time, he sees a boy. He is not far from the bus. "Come here, boy!" Mr. Green calls to him.

"Do you know how much those cakes are?"Mr. Green asks the boy." Thirty cents for one," the boy answers.

Mr. Green gives sixty cents to the boy and asks him to buy two cakes. Mr.Green says,"One cake is for you and the other is for me."

After five minutes(分钟), the boy comes back with one cake（蛋糕）. He eats the cake and gives thirty cents to Mr.Green and says, "There is only one left."

It's a Sunday morning. Isabella and her best friend William are playing in a park. They are looking for yellow eggs. Their parents tell them the yellow eggs are very difficult to find! They walk here and there, and William finds five white eggs. Isabella finds two blue eggs and four red eggs. But they don't see any yellow ones. Then William walks to some bushes (灌木) to try to find one.

"Hey, look what I find!" William says. He looks happy.

"Do you find a yellow egg?" Isabella asks. She walks over to join William.

"No," says William. "I find something better(更好的)!"

Isabella sees a birds nest (鸟巢) there. They are real eggs! There are three brown eggs in the nest.

Then they look at the eggs, they find the mother bird flies back. Then the two friends leave the bushes happily. They run to tell their parents about the nest.

What a good find! 

People around the world work together to help our planet on Earth Day, April 22. But in fact, lots of people protect the Earth all year long. They are Earth heroes(英雄). And some kids do, too. We have four kids here, telling you that you can help even if you are a child.

Saving the frogs

John is from the USA. He always loves frogs. When John was 5, he learned their living places were in danger. So John started a group, For the Love of Frogs. They sold toy frogs to collect money to help frogs. John is now 10 and the group has more than $ 20,000 to protect frogs!

Growing right

Mandy lives in a city in India. She saw a wasteland near her house at 15. She turned it into a garden. She used native plants that lived or grew around her city. Native plants could make insects like butterflies and animals come to her area.

Mandy is now 18. She is teaching people about native plants." The way to reuse the wasteland is not just to plant any tree," she said." It is to make sure that you grow the right plants in the area."

Cleaning up

Zhang Min, 13, and Zhang Jie, 15, live in a city in China. To fight plastic pollution, they made a plan. They wanted to clean up plastic waste in the Pearl River.

Zhang Min and Zhang Jie put up posters at school to make people care more about plastic waste." You need to have people talk to one another," Zhang Jie said," Everyone can do something to help."

My crafty(鬼点子多的) child was driving me crazy the other day. That afternoon, I was busy getting the house ready for guests to arrive. When I walked across the entrance( 入 口 ). I found a piece of folded paper1 on the recently-swept floor. 

"Paul must try to carry waste paper from the living room to the rubbish can and 2 a few pieces, " I sighed(叹气), picking them up. 

Moments later, I passed through the entrance again and found 3 paper. No quiet sighing this time, I4 , "Who is throwing rubbish around the entrance?"

No answer. 5 , I saw more bits of paper silently flying down from upstairs. Looking up, I saw my seven-year-old son6 over the stairs. 

"Paul!" I cried tiredly. "Stop making a/an 7 . " Paul looked at the paper bits falling quietly to the floor. "It's not. They're butterflies. " He ran down the stairs to 8 his papers. "Where are my other butterflies?" he asked, looking around. 

Every time Paul puts five or more words together, I can't help saying 9 from the bottom of my heart. For the first three years of his life, there were no words; the next three years, he still could10 put two words together. But lately he seems to realize that the advantage( 好 处 ) of forming11 sentences is worth his effort when communicating. 

Butterflies. Of course. I rushed into the kitchen to 12 them from the rubbish and hand  them to Paul. 

"Want to see them fly again?" he asked. "Oh, yes! They are beautiful, Paul. " I agreed. 

He ran back upstairs to fly his paper down again. I watched them fly softly down 13 me. 

They really did look like beautiful butterflies. 

That day Paul made me look up at14 instead of looking down at rubbish. Life is not what happens to us but it is 15 we look at it.
