The BFG 《圆梦巨人》is a new film. It is about the Big Friendly Giant (巨人). He lives with nine other bad giants in Giant Country. Every night the nine bad giants eat people, but the BFG doesn't. He only eats vegetables and collects dreams (收集梦想) for children.

    One day, the BFG meets a nice girl in London. Her name is Sophie. She is 10 years old. Sophie has no parents, so he takes her back to his home. Sophie is not happy at first. She wants to run away. But when she gets to know the BFG, they become (成为) good friends. They have fun in the giants' world.

    But other giants soon know about Sophie and they want to eat children in London. Sophie and the BFG find the Queen of England (英国女王) and tell(告诉) her about this danger. At last, the Queen, Sophie and the BFG beat (打败) the bad giants.

    Brian was a funny student. He loved watching comedies（喜剧） best and hoped to become a comedy actor one day.

When he heard about the talent show to be held at this school, Brian decided to take part in. He had never acted on stage（舞台） before, and he was very excited. But some students laughed at him. “You are not funny but silly,” Ken, one of his classmates, said to his face. “No one will like what you do,” another boy also said to him, loudly.

Brian couldn't understand why they were so unkind to him. For a moment, he thought about giving up the show. But he remembered how much his friends liked his jokes, and also his teachers said he was very funny. So he decided to prepare for the show.

    Brian did a great job at the talent show. Everyone loved his performance, and he won the first prize! His teachers and friends were proud of him. Even so, Ken told Brian that he was not funny, and that he would never be successful. Brian didn't understand why Ken said so, but he realized that it had nothing to do with him. He confidently continued to work towards his goal.

   As the years went on, Brian met more people like Ken. “you'll do a terrible job,” they said to him. Luckily, most people encouraged him and some helped him to become even funnier. He got a lot of opportunities to perform in movies. He was even invited to appear on television. His fans thanked him because his comedies made them feel good when they were unhappy.

    Now Brian is a big comedy star! He is doing what he loves best. He never feels stressed like those unkind people, and he laughs all day long!

    For his eleventh birthday, Lin was given a gift that would shape his life. On that day his father took him to the Children's Activity Centre and said he could choose any course that interested him. There was just one

Requirement: Lin would have to promise to study it for at least one year.

    To that point Lin had had many hobbies, but none kept his interest for more than a week or two. His mum once gave him a bag of stamps to encourage stamp collecting. That hobby lasted a week. Then his father got him some paints hoping that Lin's artistic side would shine through. Those paints were now under his bed, still unopened. This time Lin's parents would let him decide.

    Lin's eyes moved down the noticeboard that listed all the courses on offer. He stopped at "Photography". He liked the idea of taking beautiful pictures but the notice said that each student needed their own camera. Although Lin's family weren't poor, they weren't rich either, and a camera cost a lot of money. He continued looking.

    The next course to catch his eye was "Language Art". He didn't even know what that meant. His father explained that it taught people how to make public speeches. Lin, a shy boy, could think of nothing worse.

    Then he saw it. "Cooking" sounded like something he'd like to do. It was inexpensive and convenient. It could be done alone and it was also creative.

    Based on Lin's hobby history, his dad had doubts, but he agreed. Much to his parents' surprise, Lin kept his promise. He studied cooking at the Centre every Saturday, and practised at home, making delicious meals for his family. Everyone looked forward to birthdays, when they could eat his cakes. Lin got great satisfaction from the pleasure his food brought to others.

    The months turned to years but his hobby never changed again.

    Now Lin is an adult and runs a successful restaurant. When customers say they enjoy his meal, he still gets the same pleasure he did as a child, and remembers the special gift he received "all those years ago.

    Canada Geese are large blue and white birds. When autumn arrives, they have to fly south where the weather is warmer. The winters are so cold in Canada that the birds die if they stay there.

    Last spring, Bill Lishman found sixteen young Canada Geese on his farm. They had lost their parents. Bill thought, "These young birds won't know what to do in the autumn."

    Bill had a small plane and he decided to teach the birds to follow him. All through the summer, he went on short trips in his plane and the young geese flew after him.

    When the cold weather arrived in autumn, Bill flew to Virginia in the United States, 600 miles (英里) south of his home in Canada. The geese followed him all the way. Bill left the geese in Virginia and he returned home.

    This spring. Bill was waiting for the birds to come back. They didn't arrive, so Bill flew to Virginia to get them. He looked for them for two weeks but he couldn't find them.

    When he arrived back home, Bill found the geese waiting for him. They had found their way home without him!

It was 2:43 am, October 20th, 2023. It was raining heavily outside. Suddenly my father rushed into my room."Daming! Get up! We're flooding!"he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}and shook me. That woke {#blank#}2{#/blank#} up! I ran downstairs. It was like a swimming pool. My mother and I started to pick up things and take them{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

Things got worse every minute. We were in great{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Water had come in our front door.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}we knew our home was being destroyed, we couldn't do  anything to stop it. Rescue（ 救援） boats came and finally we reached a primary school{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. All the people there helped{#blank#}7{#/blank#}other.

I really have learned a lot {#blank#}8{#/blank#} this flood( 洪 灾 ). I have learned something{#blank#}9{#/blank#} about safety. I know in the future, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I find people are in danger, I will show great pity and do what I can to help them.

I'm Anna, a college student. I think I'm quite good at {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(cook). Most people seem to enjoy eating the food I cook for them.

I first {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(start) trying to cook when I left home and went to college. I didn't   have much money and it was much {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cheap) to cook my own food sh an to eat in the canteen(餐厅). Also, it isn't healthy to eat out too often. One cool thing {#blank#}4{#/blank#} college is that I had a small kitchen. I' ve bought some {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(machine) for cooking. And I' ll buy a blender soon.

I learnt p y {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(I). I used the Internet to look for the recipes(食谱)I was interested  · in. I also asked my parents sometimes. However, when I first started croking, most of my food   {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) terrible. But I learnt quite fast. Now,I always invite(邀请) my friends to my room and cook for them {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(celebrate) every festival together.

 Except(除....之外) at {#blank#}9{#/blank#} very beginning,I think I' ve found it quite easy, mainly   {#blank#}10{#/blank#}I enjoy cooking and I enjoy eating. But it's not something that everyone can learn to do. I think some people are just too impatient(没有耐心的) to learn to cook well.
