Some people are naturally better than others at social activities. There are the lucky few that draw people to them without any effort. Put yourself at ease and remember these tips:
Smile! A smile is understood in any culture and any age as a sign of friendship. So go ahead! It will put the other person at ease. You will seem approachable and happy.
Make eye contact. Good eye contact engages the other person to you. When you are introduced to someone, shake their hands and repeat their names. Making eye contact shows you have confidence and shows you are interested in the other person.
Having a trusted friend next to you makes it less frightening to walk into a room full of people. But remember that even if you walk in as a pair, it doesn't mean you just stick together the whole time. The point in a social gathering is you make friends with other people.
Go to social settings with a shared interest. For example joining an art class automatically puts you in a setting with other people you already have a common interest in.
A.Go with friends.
B.Ask the other person questions.
C.That will help you remember their names.
D.This is the worst impression to make in any setting.
E.It will let the other person know that you are safe to talk to.
F.But for most of us, we feel shy and awkward in social activities.
G.You now have something to talk about and work it from there.
Questions you should ask yourself when you fail
The more new things we try the more failure we are likely to have.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Experiencing failure can be a learning experience and an opportunity for a fresh start. A good way to begin this process is by asking yourself some tough questions.
⑴What can I learn from this?
Take responsibility for what went wrong. OK, so it was not all your fault—but some of it was. Successful people don't make excuses or blame others. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} So you should look at the experience objectively(客观地).
⑵Do I need to acquire or improve some skills?
Did the problem reveal some lack of skill on your part? How could you learn or improve those skills? Perhaps there are books or courses or people you could turn to. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}
⑶Who can I learn from?
Is there someone to whom you can turn for advice? Did a boss, colleague or friend see what happened? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Most people do not ask for help because they believe it to be a sign of weakness rather than strength. It's not. It shows that you are ready to learn and change.
⑷What will I do next?
Now draw up an action plan. Will you try something similar or something different? Revisit your goals. Failure doesn't mean you have to give up; maybe you just need to change it in another way. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
A. You can now reset your sights on your destination and plan a new course. B. Make them step stones to future success. C. They take responsibility for the failure. D. In fact the only way to avoid failure is to do nothing new. E. The important thing is how we deal with failure. F. Make a self-development plan to acquire the skills and experience you need. G. If they are constructive and supportive then ask them for some feedback (反馈) and guidance. |
A. It was during those times I would hear those words the loudest B. These words will be passed along from generation to generation C. With many things to worry about. D. it is common to lose your things on the way. E. After all I CAN do that! F. That was my mom and dad G. as well as my co-workers that same message |
Growing up I remember my weekly "career" announcements. Anchor woman, flight attendant and teacher, among many, many others. Each week I heard "you can do that. You will be good at that". {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.
Throughout life, I learned that not everyone believed in me the way my mom and dad believed in me. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. I dug deep and gain success. I have 2 children of my own now and I echo those words of encouragement to them everyday. I often tell my nieces and nephews, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#} as I listen to other family members tell their children and even my boys telling that to each other.
Most often when we think of what passes from one generation to the next it consists of artifacts and genes.
I will pass these words on and I know they will carry on for each generation to come. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.
