    Developing good teacher-student relationships

We all have our favorite teachers-those who seem truly interested and treat us as intelligent beings. But what about teachers we don't know as well (or even don't like much)?

First, do the obvious stuff: show up for class on time, with all assignments completed. Be polite, be respectful, and ask questions.

Obviously, your teachers are really interested in their subjects or they wouldn't have decided to teach them! Showing the teacher that you care sends the message that you are a dedicated student.

You can also schedule a private conference during a teacher's free period. Use this time to get extra help ask questions, inquire about a career in the subject, or talk about your progress in class.

What to do if you don't get along

Before you try to get out of a class to escape a teacher you don't like, here are a few things you can try to make a difficult relationship work:

Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this teacher?” Even if you don't worship his or her personality or lectures, dig deep until you find a subject in which your teacher is very knowledgeable.

Talk to students who are doing well in the class and ask them for tips, tools, and a plan of action to get along with the teacher better.

If your relationship problems can't be solved in school, then it's time to tell your parents. Let them meet with your teacher and try to work it out.

Teachers are there for more than just homework, and they know about more than just their subject matter.Undoubtedly, there will be a few teachers along the way who you'll always remember-and who might change your life forever.

A. Show an interest in the subject.

B. Teachers sense when your only motivation is to get special treatment.

C. They can help you learn how to function as an adult and a lifelong learner.

D. You can do lots of things to get a good connection going with your teacher.

E. Focus of that part of the teacher's personality, and use it as a tool for learning.

F. Here are some things to avoid when trying to establish a relationship with your teacher.

G. You may be surprised to learn that your teacher is a bit more relaxed one-on-one than when lecturing in front of the whole class.

In our daily life, we have developed a lot of habits, such as, eating habit, study habit, reading habit, etc. However, taking the time to develop a sleep habit is probably the last thing on your mind and some sleep advice simply can't be forgotten. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

Watching TV until you fall asleep

It has nothing to do with what you watch —TV news isn't a better pre-sleep choice than TV series. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. The bright light keeps you awake all the night. So even if you nod off (in front of the TV, for example), you probably won't stay asleep for long.

Sleeping with pets

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. They get comfortable, and then they move. This goes on all night, and whether you admit it or not, it interrupts your ability to get the level of sleep needed to feel rested.

Eating fatty, heavy foods too close to bedtime

Heartburn (烧心,胃痛) strikes anyone of any age, but it's the most common GI disorder (胃肠失调) in older adults. If you've ever tried to go to sleep after eating a fatty meal, you've probably found the discomfort of stomach preventing you from falling asleep or staying asleep.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Remember how poorly you sleep when you have a fever—turning over and over again, never really feeling rested? Well, heavy exercise too close to bedtime has the same effect — it raises your body temperature so that your sleep is disturbed until your body temperature drops to normal, which may take several hours.

Accepting snoring (打呼噜) as normal sleep behavior

Snoring may seem as common as breathing, but it's considered the biggest sleep killer, and it's linked to several causes: sleeping on your back, being overweight, having a cold, drinking, or taking drugs. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. For the snorer, it disturbs sleep by awakening him/her every so often in order to breathe normally. For the partner, the noise can be unbearable.

A. Exercising heavily too close to bedtime

B. Here are some bad habits you need to get rid of

C. Most seriously, it's caused by a dangerous illness

D. Here are some suggestions you'll need to follow

E. Pets sleep most of the day, and they move a lot when sleeping

F. Reducing your body temperature before bedtime

G. Rather it's the TV's bright light that is the criminal

Workday

At home

You probably want to sit or sleep on the couch, but by keeping active around the house, you can burn a significant number of calories throughout the day. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Playing with your kids for 30 minutes will help you burn 186 calories if you weigh 155 pounds, while you'll burn 167 calories in a half-hour house-cleaning session.

Outdoors

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} If you weigh 155 pounds, expect to burn 172 calories for every half hour you spend weeding the garden. You'll burn 205 calories in 30 minutes of pushing your lawnmower(割草机) around the yard. When winter arrives, cleaning snow is worth 223 calories per 30 minutes.

Other

Everyday errands(差事) can help you burn extra calories when you can't find time to work out. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Washing your car by hand will burn 167 calories in 30 minutes. By parking your car at the far end of the parking lot, you'll burn more calories getting to and from your vehicle.

A. You can make adjustments to your lifestyle to include a variety of calorie-burning activities into everyday life.

How Teens Can Stay Fit

Any type of regular, physical activity can improve your fitness and your health. It can be in gym class, joining a sports team, or working out on your own. Keep the following tips in mind:

Take it one step at a time. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. For example, walk or ride your bike to school or to a friend's house instead of getting a ride. Get on or off the bus several blocks away and walk the rest of the way. Use the stairs instead of taking the elevator or escalator.

Get your heart pumping(跳动). Whatever you choose, make sure it includes aerobic(有氧的) activity that makes you breathe harder and increases your heart rate. This is the best type of exercise because it increases your fitness level and makes your heart and lungs work better. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Examples of aerobic activities are basketball, running, or swimming.

Don't forget to warm up with some easy exercises or stretching(拉伸) before you do any physical activity. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Stretching makes your muscles and joints more flexible too. It is also important to stretch out after you exercise to cool down your muscles.
