This is a message for Marco Daniel. My name's David Dolby. I'm sorry I missed your{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. I understand that you want some information about the volleyball club. The club meets once a week, on Wednesday evening. There are sometimes matches on Sunday morning, but those are just for our team players. Our meetings {#blank#}2{#/blank#}at eight, and are about two hours long, so we finish at ten. People like to get home in time for the 10:15 sports {#blank#}3{#/blank#}on television. We meet in the Jubilee Hall in Park Lane, behind the High Street. The hall doesn't have very good heating, so you'll need to bring a coat to put on afterwards. It's also quite expensive to rent, so our players pay ￡2.75 each week. I hope this answers all your questions and we'll be very{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to see you at our next meeting.

I moved here three years ago, and because of my business, I needed to fly both to China and the United States often. When I traveled alone, I felt lonely because I didn't speak English well. I made a decision that I had to learn English well.

I came to Rita Colina's class at the Chinese Community Center in Houston. Before the class, I always walked away when I met any foreigner. It's completely different now. I try to communicate with Americans in English by myself. Now I like to talk to foreigners. Not only the life becomes more flexible, but also I really love to live here.

I learn English in four ways:

First of all, I listen to what the teacher teaches in class. Then I keep speaking during the class.

Second, I do my homework right away when I get home. I memorize at least five vocabulary words every day.

Third, I listen to American radio stations, and I watch the TV news and other American programs with my family every day. I ask them whatever I don't know.

Finally, I go to American stores as often as possible so I will have more chances to learn more new words, and find any chance to talk to Americans in English.

Anyway, the most important thing is not to be afraid to open your mouth. It doesn't matter even though you speak incorrectly. It's the key, you know.

①Have you ever wondered why we can't control those sudden "achoo" moments? 

Welcome to the unusual world of sneezes (打喷嚏). Here is some interesting knowledge about it. 

②First, it all starts with a tickle (痒). Whether it's dust, pepper, or a sudden ray of sunshine, as long as your body thinks it might be something harmful, your brain gets a warning that it's time to sneeze. It's like the first sound in a sneezing concert. What's more, a sneeze is like a small pop. It can travel up to 100 miles per hour (160 km per hour)! Imagine your sneeze going past at the speed of a racing car. It's your nose's way of saying, "▲"

③After a sneeze, we often say "bless you". It's believed to stop you from evil spirits who're trying to get into your body during a sneeze. So, every "bless you" is like a mini exorcism (驱邪) for your nose. Also, one sneeze can start a chain reaction. Sneezes are a bit like a kind of disease which can spread from one to another. For example, once one person starts, it's hard for others not to join in. It's the social side of sneezing!

④Finally, did you know that some people close their eyes without thinking anything when they sneeze? It's like a built-n part of your body, and scientists aren't sure why it happens. 

⑤All in all, after knowing the unusual world of sneezes, we should let it be. The next time you feel a tickle in your nose and the feeling to sneeze, just accept it. It's not just a sneeze. Instead, it's an unusual, uncontrollable performance brought to you by the one and only, your fantastic nose!

How do blind people get around safely? Some people use special guide dogs. A well-trained dog knows how to help its owner cross busy streets and get from place to place. Some people use long white canes（手杖）to help them get around. 

Guide dogs and canes are helpful, but there must be a better way for blind people to get around. A scientist in England thought so. His name is Waters and he studies bats（蝙蝠）. He knows that bats are able to fly in the dark. Besides, he knows that bats go by using sound to "see". Dr. Waters wondered if people could do something similar. 

Bats make sounds as they fly. These sounds travel in waves（波）in the air. When the waves hit an object such as a tree or house, they bounce back（反射回来）. The waves travel back to the bat's ears. A bat learns the location and shape of objects around it. 

Dr. Waters talked to other scientists, including Withington from America and Hoyle from Germany. They worked together and invented a new kind of cane. They called it a "bat cane" because their idea started with bats. The new cane has a computer in the handle（手柄）. ▲  The sound waves hit objects and echoes（回声）back. This causes the handle to make sounds, which humans can hear. 

With a little training, a person using the cane can easily tell where objects are and can "see" with sound! 

China's TV show To the Wonder has made Altay in Xinjiang very popular for the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （民众）. They like the beautiful views and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （风俗） of the people there.

The TV show tells the story of Li Wenxiu, a young woman who returns to her hometown, Altay for the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（第二） time. Then she stayed living with her mother after{#blank#}4{#/blank#} （失败） to become a writer and facing many difficulties at work.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（它） beautiful lakes, and free lifestyle in the TV show quickly made Altay one of many young people's dream places. Flight bookings have {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（增加） by 20% and hotel bookings have doubled.

 Canton Tower(广州塔) is the highest tower in China. 1 you stand on the top of the tower, you can get a bird's eye view of the Pearl River. Visitors are interested in taking2 of the city at the tower. 

 In 2005, workers3 to build this tower. In 2010, the colourful lights of the tower lighted up the sky for4 first time. It took over four years 5 it. 

 Canton Tower is 6 the centre of Guangzhou. It is7 to get there by bus or by underground. People also provide some8 information of the tower on the Internet. For example, there is a 4D cinema in it. The tower is open from 9 am to 11 pm. There are many ways for9 to buy tickets. 

 For people of Guangzhou, Canton Tower is a work of art and a new symbol of the city. I hope the city 10 more and more prosperous(繁华的) in the future.
