福建省 Z&W 联盟2024届高三下学期6月模拟英语试题

 根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Challenges are part of life and something we can all expect to encounter at one point or another during our lifetime. We handle challenges differently;some of us choose to face them head-on, while others flee in uncertainty.The following are simple methods and strategies we can all employ to overcome challenges more effectively.

Nike couldn't have said it any better with their slogan, "Just do it! "Some challenges require us to do just that. Grab the bull by its horns and have the courage to conquer it, no matter how unsure we might feel. Some challenges are urgent and require immediate attention, leaving us with no option but to go ahead full-steam.

Educate ourselves. The reason why some issues prove challenging for us is that we aren't familiar with them.The internet, books, forums, etc. , offer platforms where we can research and learn about our challenges to find strategies against them. Knowledge is definitely powerful and essential in conquering anything.

Be persistent. This is what is required to accomplish anything, especially when it comes to overcoming challenges. No matter how difficult our challenges might be, we must be willing to push through and try again and again until we achieve victory over them..

Ask for help. There are times when we can't go it alone and need others to help us conquer whatever challenges we face.Networking with like-minded individuals who can offer us support, suggestions, and solutions is useful in helping us overcome challenges.

A. Meet them head-on.

B. Adapt a different strategy.

C. It is said that two heads are better than one.

D. If we give up, we allow the challenges to conquer us instead.

E. Therefore, our knowledge and ability to conquer them is limited.

F. Whatever our positions, we all wish to conquer them and move on.

G. Some challenges can be overwhelming, making us question our ability to overcome them.

    Why is setting goals important? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow you to make your life happen. Successful people imagine how their life should be and set lots of goals.

    By setting goals you are taking control of your life. It's like having a map to show you where you want to go. Think of it this way. There are two drivers. One has a destination in mind which can be found on a map. She can drive straight there surely without any wasted time of wrong turns. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} She starts off at the same time from the same place as the first driver, but she drives aimlessly around, never getting anywhere, just using up gas. Which driver do you want to be?

    Winners in life set goals and follow them through. They decide what they want in life and then get there by making plans and setting goals. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Goals aren't difficult to set and they aren't difficult to reach.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} You are the one who must decide what to achieve and in what direction to aim your life.

    Research tells us that when we write a goal down we are more likely to achieve it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Like a contract(合同) with yourself, they are harder to neglect or forget. Also when you write your goals in a particular way, you are able to make yourself continuously aware of situations that will bring you nearer to your goal.

A.Because everybody should have a goal in his mind.

B.Unsuccessful people usually just let life happen by accident.

C.The other driver has no goal, or destination or map.

D.It's difficult for a driver to reach his destination without a map.

E.It's up to you to find out what your goals really are.

F.Because goals can help you do, be, and experience everything you want in life.

G.Written goals can be reviewed regularly, and have more power.

    It is easy to keep your spirits bright when life is going along smoothly and good news seems to turn up at every turn. It is an entirely different picture when life goes off course or bad news appears. The question then becomes: How do we keep our spirits bright throughout the different stages of life? {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Get Enough Sleep

    It wasn't until I became a mother that I realized how important a good night's sleep truly is. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Sleep is such an amazing gift to recharge and start.

Back to Basics(基本)

    When I feel tired with too much to do, I love to put on my shoes and get outside for a run. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Getting back to basics can include things like: getting outside, having real conversations with real people, enjoying a meal with a loved one or doing an activity that brings you joy.

    Time Management

    If life feels like it is out of control and you can't keep up, see what happens when you try to manage your time. There are many time management systems out there that can help. Have event reminders(提醒)on your phone and computer. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Start your day by writing a list of what you plan to achieve. And sometimes we also need to let go of things that aren't important.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    Keeping our deepest desires and dreams alive is the very fuel that keeps our spirits bright. Give yourself the gift of having goals and dreams, and don't allow fear to have a say in how big your dreams may be.

A. Dream Big

B. We can keep your spirits bright anytime

C. Set an alarm to remind you to leave early

D. Try out the following if they sound like a fit for you

    Do you know what a big dream is? Does a big dream show one's future? Or, is a big dream something that provides only entertainment? Children dream big dreams, but there are three barriers to realizing dreams{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

The self

    Immediately following the birth of a big dream, a negative self-talk takes over and gives all the reasons why it cannot happen. This voice inside of people is the ego(自我).It's there for protecting and should be listened to. Sometimes it is right, but more often it is wrong{#blank#}2{#/blank#} That's why only a handful of people make their dream come true

Family and friends

    Family and friends are a lot the ego.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} so they will often list all the reasons why the big dreams won't come true. Sometimes, family and friends destroy dreams of those they love most, out of their own fear of those left behind.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    If one gets past the first two barriers, one has to face the world. It is the last and the most terrible barrier. In the past, big dreamers were locked up and sometimes even killed when they were shown to the world. Fortunately, in most of the world today, big dreamers just get laughed at {#blank#}5{#/blank#}When children feel confident and then try their best, they will be ready to accept any failure. The truth is that every great dreamer whose dreams have never seen the light of success knows failure well. They simply fail until they succeed

A. The world

B. The future

C. Most people are influenced by it

D. They want to protect those they love

E. And their big dream is to be a rock star or a famous artist

F. They often kill them before they ever have a chance to grow

G. The way to realize a big dream is with confidence and action

    Encouraging pupils to keep noise to a minimum should be a valuable part of all children's education, according to a new research.

    Dr. Helen Lees, from Stirling University's school of education, says that “enforced (强制的) silence” is seen as a punishment and often acts to suppress children's natural ability. But she says that teaching children about the benefits of “enforced silence” — deliberate stillness that gives them the opportunity to focus and reflect in a stress-free environment — can have a significant effect on pupils' concentration and behaviour.

    It is the latest in a string of researches to establish a link between the classroom environment and pupils' academic ability.

    A study almost a decade ago in London found that children's exam results were cut by as much as a third if they taught in noisy classrooms. Teaching unions have also called for a     limit of 26℃ to be put on classroom temperatures because teachers and pupils struggle to work in hot conditions and some educationalists claim that too much clutter(杂乱的东西) on classroom walls can prevent children from concentrating.

    Dr. Lees said: “When we take some research on school settings and put it all together, what we see is that education without silence does not make much sense. In areas of better learning outcomes, better self-confidence and well-being measures, enforced silence in a person's life and an individual's education is shown throughout the relevant research to be a benefit.”

    Dozens of schools across Britain already introduce periods of “reflective silence” into the timetable.

    Kevin Hogston, head of Sheringdale Primary, south London, has just introduced a minute's silence at the start of twice-weekly meetings in which children are taught breathing techniques and encouraged to reflect. The school plans to introduce it into classrooms every day.

    As an old saying in China goes, “The days of the Sanjiu period are the coldest days.” “Sanjiu period” , which is in Minor Cold, refers to the third nine-day period (the l9th to the 27th day) after the day of the Winter Solstice(冬至). There are many different customs related to Minor Cold in China.

    Eating hotpot

    During Minor Cold people should eat some hot food to benefit the body and defend against the cold weather. Winter is the best time to have hotpot and braised mutton with soy sauce. But it is important to notice that too much spicy food may cause health problems.

    Eating huangyacai

    In Tianjin, there is a custom to have huangyacai, a kind of Chinese cabbage, during Minor Cold. There are large amounts of vitamins A and B in huangyacai. As huangyacai is fresh and tender, it is fit for frying, roasting and braising.

    Eating glutinous rice (糯米饭)

    According to tradition, the Cantonese eat glutinous rice in the morning during Minor Cold. Cantonese people add some fried preserved pork, sausages and peanuts and mix them into the rice.

    Eating vegetable rice

    In ancient times, people in Nanjing took Minor Cold quite seriously, but as time went by, the celebration of Minor Cold gradually disappeared. However, the custom of eating vegetable rice is still followed today. The rice is steamed and is unspeakably delicious. Among the ingredients (原料), aijiaohuang (a kind of green vegetable), sausages and salted duck are the specialties in Nanjing.
