A little stream(小溪) ran down from a high mountain through many villages and forests. Then it reached a desert." I went through so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert," she thought. As she started, she found herself slowly vanishing(消失)into the sand. After many tries, she still failed." Maybe I can't reach the ocean," she said sadly to herself. At this time, a deep voice said," If wind can cross the desert, so can a river." It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream answered," That's because the wind can fly, but I can not."

   "That's because you can't give up what you are.  Let yourself evaporate(蒸发)into the wind and it can take you across me," said the desert." Give up what I am now? No! No!" The little stream could not accept this idea." The wind can carry the vapor(蒸汽)across the desert and let it leave as rain. The rain will form a river again," said the desert. A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains—Wang Ximeng

Not only did officials and scholars enjoy listening to music, but they also found pleasure in depicting nature. One such painter was Wang Ximeng. He was a prodigy. Wang Ximeng painted A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains when he was only seventeen years old. He died several years later, but he left one of the largest and most beautiful paintings in Chinese history.

It's no secret that there is a space problem in Manhattan. People build up higher and higher buildings because there isn't much land left and there is no room to build out. So people have been building lots of tall and thin buildings. Developers are trying to build higher and higher buildings. However, the government has made laws that don't allow developers to build too high buildings. 

Oiio Studio thinks about things differently, "What if our buildings were not tall but long?" So the founder of Oiio Studio, Ioannis Oikonomou, designed a U-shaped building, the Big Bend. It would be a very thin building. It would curve(弯曲) at the top and return to the ground. Oikonomou said he thought of the great idea because he learned from a piece of news. It said that a company made a lift that could travel in curves. So he designed the Big Bend. He thought it as "the longest building in the world". It would be 4, 000 feet from end to end and would need a different lift system. 

"We can't change the law, ▲____. So if we can bend( 使 弯 曲 ) our building, we would be able to build one of the most amazing buildings in Manhattan, "Oiio Studio said. 

The Big Bend is just an idea for now. Oikonomou has sent the plans to a few companies, and is looking for developers. If successful, they will build the Big Bend around West 57th Street, just to the south of Central Park.
