任务型阅读(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)

Including children in the farming lifestyle has many benefits. Sure, it is nice to have the additional help with chores(家庭杂务), but it also fosters so much growth, sending our kids down a good path towards who they will someday become. It is possible that our children will grow up to lead lives that do not include farming.

Through caring for farm animals, kids learn that in life others often come before self.

It doesn't matter if we don't feel like it or if we are sick and tired. What matters is that we take care of the animals that take care of us and do so in a timely manner.

If the work on a farm does not get done, the operation fails. It takes discipline and commitment to get down to business every day, and seeing this in action will give kids a good work attitude. They will know and understand that nothing good comes easy and that they have to work to survive. Functioning as part of a productive team will surely be playing a crucial role sooner or later in all walks of life.

Additionally, fanning teaches patience. Cattle will be difficult to control. Horses will run away when you try to catch them. Goats will kick over that bucket of hard-earned milk. A rooster will decide you got too close to his hens and give you a run for your money. In spite of all that, kids will learn to be patient and take things easy.

There may not be any instant reward, but in the long-term kids will see the benefit of all their efforts during those hard days.

A. At the same time, they learn to work with others.

B. Farm life also teaches kids the value of hard work.

C. Children learn to be grateful for animals for eating purpose.

D. Teamwork is no longer an important skill to develop and use.

E. There are going to be a lot of days when things do not go your way.

F. However, what they learn on a farm can also be instrumental in their future lives.

G. Animals need to be fed, watered, and cared for before we get to sit down and relax.

A dog's mind is only equal to that of a two-year-old baby. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} So, they are probably the first to notice any change in the behavior of their masters. Let's do some deep-digging to understand the amazing ability of a dog.

They sense your feelings. Isn't it strange? {#blank#}2{#/blank#} This is true. A study published in the Animal Cognition(认知)journal says that dogs are known to come to people who appear sad or depressed. It doesn't matter if the person is their owner or a stranger. They have an ability to sense sadness and are attracted to troubled souls.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Dogs can easily tell when you're playing with favorites, and if you reward or play more with other pets, your dog might notice it and feel uncomfortable. As they can't say how they feel, they will scratch, yawn or lick their mouths.

They smell fear. Let's say you are faced with your worst fear. Would you get scared and run away or just face it? Before choosing how to deal with it, you should remember one thing. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Research shows that dogs often sense their master's response in dangerous situations. If you fear something and choose to back away, chances are that your pet is going to do the same thing.

They're watching you. We are all raised as responsible individuals who are taught to respect elders, obey the law and help out people in need from time to time. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} But if you have a dog at home, it is time to be serious about them. Dogs like generous people. So just be careful around your pet; it may judge you on how you behave with others.

A. They sense health problems.

B. They understand when ignored.

C. They know when no one's looking at them.

D. You would be setting an example to your pet.

E. Every time you feel sad, your dog just knows it.

F. But dogs are able to sense everything around them.

Need a good adventure?

You don't have to climb a mountain or go on safari. Any adventure where you stretch yourself and learn something new counts. For some, it may be jumping out of a plane. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Ready for your adventure? Here's some advice.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Pick a manageable activity you can do soon-this weekend!-close to home. This will break your inertia (惰性), build your confidence and help you ramp up to bigger adventures.

Shift how you view anxiety.

Research shows that people who interpreted their nervousness about activities such as karaoke singing and public speaking as excitement enjoyed the experiences more and performed better than those who tried to press down their anxiety.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} says Samantha Boardman, a New York psychiatrist: Turning Stress into Strength. Try talking to yourself out loud, saying "I am excited" or "Let's get excited."

Use your imagination.

Envision the worst-case scenario. Say you want to go on a hike but are worried you'll become lost, hurt or too exhausted to get home. Try to picture this. Next, visualize the best-case scenario: the beautiful view, the fun you'll have, your sense of accomplishment afterward.

Ask yourself what will probably happen. Are you more likely to feel happy after your hike, or to be carried off the mountain in a sedan chair (轿子) ? {#blank#}4{#/blank#} says Boardman.

Make full use ofregret.

It can be very motivating. Think about whether you'll feel disappointed if you miss out on this interesting, expansive experience or glad you stayed home.

We tend to regret actions we don't take rather than ones we do. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. Start small.

B. Be confident.

C. For some, it may be climbing Mount Qomolangma.

D. So the fear of missing out can help you.

E. This exercise helps put fear in perspective.

F. For others, trying a different workout may do the trick.

G. This changed their threat mindset into an opportunity mindset.
