新目标(Go for it)版初中英语九年级Unit 12 Life is full of the unexpected. 第3课时Self Check练习
Life is full of regrets. The most regrettable moment of my past years happened in my junior high school. At that time, I failed my English exam.
On a winter afternoon, I sat on my seat and waited for the English exam. It was the last exam of the semester. After the exam, we would enjoy our winter holidays. I didn't worry about the exam because I was good at English. And I was the so-called top student in my class. I thought it was not necessary to review English. In my opinion, it would be easy.
Soon the teacher entered the classroom several minutes in advance(提前). Then she gave out the test papers to us. At first, I thought it was easy. However, when I finished half the paper, I felt it was increasingly difficult. I had ever learned some words but I just could not remember them.
What's worse, I was influenced by these difficulties and my brain was in a mess. I knew that I would fail the exam. I regretted not preparing well for it. And I regretted being too proud of myself.
Two hours passed quickly, and we all had to hand in our test papers. After school, I walked on the way home with a heavy heart. The experience taught me a lesson, "Hard work is the only key to good results."
{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Karl: Whatever I do, I always think about if other people will laugh at me. How can I stop worrying about what they think? {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Jeff: My dream is to be a professuonal athlete. My dad thinks I started too late and I'll never be able to make it. He puts me down, but I want his support. What should I do? {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Ashley:What should I do if I failed a test? I'm afraid to tell my mom because she might get mad at me and I can't play soccer. And soccer is like the world to me. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Jessica: I just moved and I'm kind of shy, so how do I make new friends? {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Lynn: I have some trouble in communicating with my parents. We have different ideas on many things. | A. It's better to tell your mom the truth than for her to find out another way. When you tell her, explain why you failed the test. Ask her if she can help you study in the future, so you'll do better on your tests and also have time for the soccer you love. B. Just be yourself and try not to care about what others think. The more you think about it, the worse you will feel. Always act strong and confident. Even if you are a little unsure of something, don't doubt (怀疑) your abilities to do things right. Just relax. C. You should tell him about your dream and that if you work really hard, it might happen even though you started late. The sooner you tell your dad how you feel, the sooner you'll be able to work on making your dream come true. D. You should take some exercise to prepare for the Olympic team. E. Nobody knows you at your new school. You have nothing to lose, so gather up all your courage and go over to someone who looks friendly and introduce yourself. You can ask that person about your teacher or the other kids in your class to break the ice. Good luck! F. I think you should be patient to listen to what your parents said. Because they have more experience than you. Their suggestions are good to you. G. You can make a speech in front of a mirror every day, and it will make you more confident to give a speech one day. |
