    Summer School for Effective Leadership 2014

    The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups （HKFYG） partners with 2 world-class universities, The University of Hong Kong （HKU） and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology （HKUST） to offer you the best international summer schools in town! This year the Summer School for Effective Leadership （SSEL） is divided into the HKU Chapter—An Overture to Global Leadership, and HKUST Chapter—The Art of Public Speaking.     HKU Chapter—An Overture to Global Leadership

    An Overture to Global Leadership, now in its seventh year, is cooperation between the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the University of Hong Kong with the aims:

    1 To nurture youth leaders with solid fundamental knowledge and intensive leadership skills;

    2 To strengthen their critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving abilities;

    3 To reinforce their willingness to serve the community;

    4 To further develop global perspective and promote intercultural awareness amongst participants.

    Full attendance is mandatory for the 9-day-8-night programme. Shared-room accommodation in the University dormitory is required.

    The Art of Public Speaking is a new collaboration between the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with the aims:

    1 To enhance the leadership skills and public speaking skills of participants;

    2 To allow youth leaders and speakers to learn from one another, and encourage cultural exchanges;

    3 To demonstrate how public speaking skills can be used by leaders to communicate to the public;

    4 To allow outstanding student leaders to serve and understand the local community.

                                                              Student Sports

    Are you tired of spending all your free time studying, going online, or playing video games? If the only muscles (肌肉) you use are for typing on a keyboard or moving a mouse, then it's time to visit the Student Recreation Center!

    Our Student Sports program runs both competitive leagues (联赛) for serious players and “just-for-fun” leagues for everybody else in a variety of team and individual (个人的) sports. In the competitive league, each team will compete three times per week for a 10-week period. The team with the most victories will win a prize at the end of the tenth week. In “just-for-fun” leagues, teams play only on weekends, and there are no prizes given. Both types of leagues offer volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis, golf, basketball, and more than a dozen other sports. It's a great chance to go out with your friends, make new friends, and get some exercise at the same time.

    The spring season is coming soon, and it's easy to get started. Stop by the Student Sports desk in the Student Recreation Center or go online to www.studnetrec.OurUniv.edu/studentsports. Whether you come down to visit the center or register (登记) online, you will have to fill out a simple form. On this form you will be asked for your name, phone number, email address, your ability level (beginner, middle, or advanced), and the times you are free to play.

    So why don't you pick up your phone and send one more text: Tell your friends that the last day to sign up for the spring season is March 1! But don't wait until the last minute — if you sign up for early registration before February 21, you'll get free tickets to our famous Beach Volleyball Picnic coming up on March 15!

There are many great museums in South Africa. Here we will know about some of those museums.

The Heart of Cape Town Museum

Cape Town is famous for many amazing firsts, especially the world's first heart transplant (移植). This surgery was under the careful guidance of professor Christiaan Barnard. This museum honors everyone who played a major role in medicine and put South Africa and the .University of Cape Town on an international stage.

The Iziko South African Museum

Founded in 1825, this museum holds more than 1.5 million objects, especially ancient fossils (化 石) and stone tools made by people living in South Africa millions of years ago. It also clearly presents the appearance of ancient locals.

Cost: $20 (adults); $15 (children 6-17); $7 (children under 6)

The Warrior Toy Museum

If you think museums are only for a select few, the Warrior Toy Museum in Simon's Town will make you change your idea. Having toys of all shapes, sizes, models and themes, it's a great place for young and old to visit. You can share stories about toys that you played when you were young and create new memories with your children.

The Van Tilburg Collection

The Van Tilburg Collection is a museum that contains 17th and 18th century furniture, paintings and many other works of art from England, France and Italy. And you will also have a chance to enjoy the largest South African collection of Chinese ceramics (陶器).
