After the birth of my second child, Igot a job at a restaurant. Having worked with an experienced waitress for a few months, I was 1  to wait tables on my own. All went 2 that first week. When Saturday night came, I was luckily given the table not far from the kitchen. 3, I still felt it a little hard to carry the heavy trays(托盘).

    Before I knew it, the restaurant was full of people. I moved slowly, minding every step. I remember how  4 I was when I saw the tray stand（支架） near the tables; it looked different from the one I was 5 on. It had nice handles, which made it  6 to move around. I was pleased with everything and began to believe I was natural at this job.

    Then, an old man came to me and said,“Excuse me, dear, my wife and I love watching you work. It seems your traystand has been very 7to you, but we are getting ready to leave now, and my wife needs her 8back. ”

At first his idea did not get across.“What was he talking about!” Then, I got it. I had set my trays on his wife'sorthopedic walker(助步器). Istood frozen as ice, but my face was 9 . I wanted to get into a hole and hide.

    Since then, I have learned from many mistakes such as the one I just 10 , I have learned to be more careful and not to be sure of myself.

    Hello, everyone! My name is Dylan. I am 13 years old. I have a special friend. He is 1 ET (外星人).  

    The ET and I live together. I play with him every day. I am good at 2. He can play football with me on the 3 . I like reading very much. I often tell him some funny stories. Would you like 4 more about our life? Here it is.

    On weekdays, we usually get up at 6:50. We 5 at 7:20 and get to school at 8:00. Our first class 6 at 9:00. My favourite lesson is Maths. But 7 is English. At lunchtime, I eat a lot of nice food with him. In the afternoon, I have no classes. The ET teaches me many new things.

    8 weekends, we play all day. I like 9 him because we can have a good time.

    Do you like the ET? Oh, I nearly forget one thing. The ET is only in my dream! But I really want a friend 10 him.

    Prana, our beautiful dog, isn't with us anymore. She died several years ago. But while sharing our home, she brought so much joy and love into our lives that we still 1 her.

    It was an autumn day in Minnesota, US. We were 2 by a big snowfall for which no one was prepared. We have two 3 trees in our backyard. Prana loved apples. When she went outside, she'd catch an apple and sneak (偷偷地放) it into the 4 . The apples had been on the ground and were often muddy (沾满泥的). So I wasn't always 5 that Prana had brought them into the house. Every time, she would turn her head so I wouldn't see her hidden 6. It was our little game.

    One year, it snowed earlier than usual. Prana went outside. I noticed that she was madly digging holes and bringing the apples to the 7so they could be seen above the snow. She seemed busy digging up as many apples as possible during her yard time. I wondered 8 she was doing this.

    When I called her back into the house  she had her usual one apple in her mouth. About five minutes later, I looked outside. The yard was full of birds. Prana had 9 all those apples for her bird and squirrel friends to eat. She knew that they didn't have enough food to 10 such an early winter!

    As I saw this beautiful act, tears filled my eyes. Prana taught us how to live life with love.

    "Come here, boys and girls! Story time," says Ms Lee to the class.

Great! The children love 1 very much. They all sit around Ms Lee, and she 2 the story. Then, FatherChristmas (圣诞老人) comes.

    "Excuse me, is Aaron in the 3?" he asks.

    Everyone looks at Aaron. He walks up to Father Christmas and says, "I'm Aaron. Do I 4 you?"

    "Get the beard (胡须) off my face, and you will know me."

    Aaron is very curious (好奇的), 5 he gets the beard off Father Christmas' face. 6 does he see? His father!

    Aaron's father is a soldier (士兵). He 7 goes back home. This year he has a long holiday. He can 8 with his family. It's great. He dresses up 9 Father Christmas and comes to Aaron's school.

    Aaron is 10 to see his father. It's a great Christmas present for him.

    Washington was the first president of the United States. He was very 1even when he was still a 12-year-old boy.

    Once a thief2some money from Uncle Post, Washington's neighbor. The door of the house was not broken, and things in the room were in good order. Washington 3that the thief must have been one of the villagers.

    That evening at the villagers' meeting he said, "We don't know who stole the money4.

    God does. God sends his wasp(黄蜂)to tell good from5Every night the wasp flies6us but few people notice it. "Then, all of a sudden Washington waved his band and cried out, "Look！The wasp has landed on the thief's7It is going to sting(叮咬)!"

    Everybody turned to 8the thief. But soon the noise died down. All eyes were 9on a man who was trying hard to drive the "Wasp" off his hat.

"Now we know10stole the money, "Washington said with a smile.
