One sunny afternoon, a young deer and an old deer were lying under a tree in the forest. Suddenly, in the distance, they heard some sounds of dogs' barking.

The old deer stood up quickly. He felt nervous and scared. He said to the young deer, "Be quick! It's time to find a place to hide in. The barking dogs are fierce(凶猛的) and they will kill us."

The young deer laughed and said, "Why should we hide from the dogs? We are bigger and stronger than them. We can toss(扔) them aside with our big antlers(角). We should fight with them bravely.

The old deer admired the courage of the young deer, but he did not believe the young. "We'd better run away now." said the old deer.

The young deer refused to run away. He decided to fight against the dogs. As the dogs ran to him, he put down his antlers and wanted to toss them aside. But he didn't win the fight because there were too many dogs. He was killed by the dogs in the end.

The young deer lost his life because he didn't know his strength and weakness. We can learn a lesson from the story. Don't be like the silly young deer when we are in danger. We should know our strength and weakness.

There are hundreds of funny and strange expressions in the English language. A lot of them include country names or nationalities. Take these examples:
The Dutch（丹麦人）are the target of most English expressions about nationalities. Why are there so many jokes about the Dutch in English? And what do these expressions mean? In the 17th and early 18th centuries, there were three wars between the British and the Dutch, and Dutch became a bad word. So double Dutch means something that has no meaning or is impossible to understand. A Dutch uncle is someone who gives much stronger advice than they need to. There are later expressions, which are funnier and kinder, like to go Dutch, which is nowadays a popular expression. It means to pay for your part of a bill. This often happens when a group of friends have a meal together, and each person pays for the food they ate. I'm a Dutchman is another commonly used expression. This means not being able to believe something.
An expression with a similar meaning to double Dutch is it's all Greek to me, which means I don't understand. The expression was made famous in Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar although the expression is actually hundreds of years older.
If you take French leave, you are not present or leave somewhere without permission. For example, you could take French leave from a classroom or the place where you work. This expression is from the 18th century when French people left parties without saying goodbye to the host or hostess.
There are Chinese whispers, which mean confused（令人困惑的）messages. This describes the fact that a message can often change as it is passed from person to person. This expression comes from the First World War when foreigners were often confused by Chinese language.
Many people find English expressions confusing, but now that you know about some of them, you can easily have fun finding out many more funny English expressions.

On Sept, 19,2014 Alibaba went public on the New York Stock Exchange (纽约证券交易所), raising $25 billion through an IPO (公司股票的首次公开发行), the biggest in the US history. It shows that Ma Yun has done his business successfully. The short Chinese man seems to be the tallest in the world right now. Ma, who was an English teacher, has become one of the richest men on the Chinese mainland.

Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Ma grew up as a happy kid. At the age of 12, he wanted to learn English. Every morning, he woke up at 5 a. m., cycling 40 minutes to a hotel near the West Lake where he could chat with foreign tourists.

On a trip to the US in 1995, Ma was shown the Internet for the first time. Seeing the chance, Ma returned to China and set up a website called China Pages without even knowing much about computers.

Four years later, 18 people including Ma, his wife and his friends founded Alibaba in Hangzhou. People called him "Crazy Jack Ma". But 15 years later, Alibaba has developed into the world's largest e-commerce (电子商务) company.

No one thinks he's mad now. Ma's favorite line has been printed on Alibaba's souvenir T-shirts. It reads, "Everybody should have a dream. What if that dream comes true?"

What can you do when someone hurts you? Most people may be angry or even fight with the one who hurts him or her. But it's not a good idea. The best way is to forgive him or her. Although it is not easy for us to forgive people who hurt us, it is possible. "Forgiveness makes people hopeful. And it is good for our health," says Fredric, Ph. D. the writer of the book called Forgive for God.

But how can we forgive others?

First, think of something beautiful and try to get yourself happy.

Third, try to see things in others' shoes. You can write a letter to yourself from the offender's (冒犯者)point. That can make you understand others better and make yourself happier.

At last, don't forget to forgive yourself. For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge(挑战). And it also makes you more confident.
