Robert De Niro is an American actor. He has acted in a lot of famous films. He is one of the greatest actors in film history.

    Robert De Niro was born in 1943 in New York City. He left high school at the age of sixteen. He wanted to have a career in acting. He dreamt of appearing in Hollywood films.

    His first major film role came in 1973. It was in the film Bang the Drum Slowly. Later, he got a role in the film The Godfather Part Ⅱ. The film is one of the greatest films in history. He won his first Oscar (奥斯卡金像奖) for this role. It was the start of a great career. After this, he got many other important film roles.

    On his way to career success, he became good friends with Martin Scorsese. Scorsese is a famous director (导演). They began to work together often. Their first film together was Mean Streets in 1973. It was a big Success. In 1980, he acted in the film Raging Bull. Scorsese was the director again. And for this role. Robert De Niro won his second Oscar.

    Things didn't go well for Henry, the village pancake maker. The Great Pancake Contest(比赛) was today. People from different places would try to win the contest .The villagers wanted Henry to win, but Henry had problems. There was not enough wood in the oven to make a pancake. Mice ate half the flour(面粉) during the night.

    The villagers saw that Henry was having problems. The woodsman brought wood for the oven. The farmer gave Henry more flour. This was all very good but he was still missing one more important thing. There was hardly enough time for Henry to make his pancake and take it to the contest. But Henry decided to have a try.

    As fast as he could, Henry put the wood in the oven. When he made the pancake, he thought, "When I had no wood, the woodsman brought me wood; when I had no flour, the farmer brought me flour. My good friends helped me."

    After Henry finished making the pancake, he ran as fast as he could to the contest. "I'm sorry, Henry," one of the judges(评判员) said. "You are too late." Henry's friends were sad for him, but Henry just laughed. "I' m not sad! In fact，I'm happy!" he shouted. "I have good friends who helped me. Now, I have a wonderful pancake to share with them."

    It was a very hot day. Two farmers, Jack and Jim, sat in the shade of a large neem tree. Both of them were eating chapatis(印度薄饼) for lunch. Jack had three pieces of the flat, round Indian bread while Jim had five. As they were about to begin their meal, a young nobleman(贵族) went by.

    After they finished the meal, the nobleman insisted on(坚持) paying for his meal. He put six coins into Jack's hand and ten coins into Jim's hand. And the two men were both very glad!

    Devon Gallagher, a college graduate from Philadelphia, wants the world to know exactly where she's been during her worldwide vacation in a special way.

    Gallagher said people often stared when she was writing on her leg, but once she shared the photos, she received only positive feedback (正面的反馈). "My leg hasn't stopped me doing anything I've wanted to do, and I've been able to keep up with my peers (同龄人)and lead a pretty great life."

    Alan Smith is blind. He teaches blind children in his country. To show the world that the blind can also do something amazing, he walked across the world's largest salt desert, Salar de Uyuni, only with the help of a GPS.
