Devon Gallagher, a college graduate from Philadelphia, wants the world to know exactly where she's been during her worldwide vacation in a special way.

The traveler, who was born with a congenital bone disease (先天性骨病),lost her right leg at the age of four. Although she had a hard time at first, she now thinks that nothing can stop her living her best life.

To spread that message, Gallagher shares photos of her travels around the world online, and writes her location across her artificial leg (假肢)before taking a picture. Now she has been taking pictures across Europe, all with the well—known locations written on her artificial leg.

Laurence Kim Peek was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 11, 1951. It was clear from an early age that he was not like other children. A medical scan(扫描) showed that the two halves of his brain were not connected in the usual way. As a result, Laurence developed an amazing memory. He started to read when he was two. He used to read books and put them back on the shelf upside down to show that he had finished them. He remembered everything he had read.

He memorized quite a lot of information subjects such as History, Geography, Sports, Music and Literature. He also had an unbelievable ability with numbers and dates.

To read more quickly, he read the left page with his left eye and the right page with his right eye. By reading the two pages at the same time, it took him less than an hour to read a whole book. By the age of 30, he had memorized around 12,000 books.

However, he did not develop so well in other areas. He could not walk until he was four, and he had problems putting on his clothes and shoes His social skills were poor, and he was extremely sensitive(敏感的) about meeting new people. In 1984, Peek and his father met Hollywood film writer Barry Morrow. Morrow was fascinated by Peek and began to write a new play about Peek's experiences. The result was Rain Man in 1988, a film that won an Oscar for Best Picture. This changed Peek's life. He got used to being the centre of attention. He self-confident (自信的). He appeared on TV and travelled around the country with his father to develop awareness(意识) of his condition. Sadly, Peek died of a heart attack in 2009.

Thanks to the hybrid rice that was discovered by Yuan Longping, the hunger problem of thousands of Chinese people was mostly fixed in the 1980s.

On Sept 8th, Yuan, together with two other scientists, won China's 2018 Future Science Prize, for his continuous research on rice. Even on his 88th birthday on Sept 7th, he took part in the International Development Forum of Rice Production in Hunan province. Although he was recovering from an illness at the time, he was happy to talk to reporters about his latest work on seawater rice.

Yuan has been researching on rice since he was at college. In 1964, he discovered a natural hybrid rice plant in Hainan. Since then, he has focused on developing high﹣yield, hybrid rice varieties(多样性). In 1973. he became the first to successfully cultivate(培育) a type of hybrid rice species in the world. With the hard work of Yuan's group for about ten years, the production of the rice was increased.(From 150 kg per mu (亩) to 500 kg per mu and more. )These varieties now take up about two thirds of China's rice crop, according to China News. So, it's no wonder that he's known as the "Father of Hybrid Rice".

And because of China's Belt and Road (一带一路)initiative. Yuan's hybrid rice is helping to solve food problems around the world. Indeed, according to Xinhua News Agency, hybrid rice plants in Kenya produce four to five times more rice than the country's usual nice plants.

With a rising fame all over the world, Yuan gave a speech in English at the 9th Shandong High﹣Level Talents Forum in Qingdao last year. His speech made him an internet sensation. Beginning with" I speak broken English", his 20﹣minute speech turned out to be a huge success, with barely any pauses or mistakes. The humble Yuan was simply being modest during his speech. According to an article in 1999 by CNN, the scientist speaks both English and Russian fluently. "I never need an interpreter when I go overseas," he told the US news network.

But in spite of his great knowledge, Yuan understands that even the wisest people should still be open to learn new things. "The farmers of our country possess rich experience in planting rice," he told Xinhua." We should learn from them."

Paul Roberts, a 15-year-old boy, lives in New York. Like thousands of other American students, he usually goes away to a summer camp during the school holidays.

These camps are just for teenagers, without their parents, and Paul always has a great time. But this summer he's doing something different-he's going on an adventure* holiday in Hawaii.

It's a camping holiday for three weeks in Hawaii, for kids from 14 to

18. He's leaving on July 23rd and coming back on August 12th.

First, they're putting on backpacks and hiking through the forest in Hawaii. The place is very beautiful, with huge waterfalls and fascinating beaches. After this five-day walk, they're staying for two days in a valley*. The main activity here will be surfing. Paul doesn't know how to surf, but instructors will teach him how to do it, and he's really looking forward to this.

Then the organizers are providing mountain bikes and they're going for long rides-about 30 miles a day, around one of Hawaii's mountains. And on one day they're meeting a local Hawaiian family and helping them to plant fruit trees on their farm. After that, they're sailing for three days by the coast, and they'll have a chance to swim with dolphins and sea turtles!

This sounds amazing. Finally, they're going out for three days in sea kayaks*-they're visiting sea caves and swimming too.

Every night for the three weeks, they're camping in tents*, usually on the beach. This isn't a holiday for couch potatoes! They say the kids have to be fit, and of course they have to know how to swim and ride a bike. The kids can't use the computer or pad during the three weeks, but it's going to be a really special experience.

A Healthy & Delicious Dish--Potato Salad

When your parents have to leave you alone at home, surely you need to feed yourself while parents are away. You can eat out in the restaurants, order takeouts (外卖) on some apps or fill your stomach with snacks. However, none of them is healthier than a home-made meal that is cooked by yourself. If you are not a good cook, I'll show you how to make a simple dish—potato salad.

What we need

Please prepare three potatoes, two eggs, one onion, one tomato, 1/2 spoon(汤匙)of sugar, one spoon of salt. Then get 1/5 kg of sausage. Make sure the vegetables are fresh enough. And it isn't necessary to have sausage in the salad, but the salad can taste more delicious with it.

How to make it

The first step is to cut the potatoes into small pieces. Just cut them in any shape you like. The next step is to cook the potatoes for 10 minutes. The third step is to boil (煮沸) the eggs for 7 minutes, take the shell(蛋壳)off and cut them into small pieces. After that, cut the sausage, the tomato and the onion into small pieces. The final step is to put all of them into a big bowl. Put sugar, salt in it, and mix them well. Now everything is done and the dish is served!

When your parents are back home, they will be surprised at what a wonderful dish you can make. If you want to invite someone for dinner, have a picnic or even enter a cooking competition, just make a potato salad and share it with others!

Today more and more people travel around China by high-speed train. We know that China wasn't an early starter in the high-speed rail field. Japan started half a century ago, and Ger-many did 22 years ago. But China has the largest high-speed railway system (系统) in the world. Here are some advantages of China high—speed trains.

First, China high-speed trains do well in speed. For example, the G3 train from Beijing to Shanghai only takes 4 hours and 48 minutes. But a normal-speed train takes more than 15 hours. The travel time between main cities in China has already been reduced.

Second, it's handy for you to book or cancel tickets. There are many high speed trains running during the day, especially between popular cities. You can choose your favorite one according to your plan. It's easy to cancel or change, if necessary.

As we know, airplanes and normal speed trains sometimes will not arrive on time. But high-speed trains always arrive at station on time. This type of trains are less affected (影响) by weather conditions or traffic control.

Moreover, traveling by high-speed train can make your trip more comfortable. You can enjoy nearly the same service as airplane. You can even walk around on a train and use the Internet on a high-speed train.

According to these advantages, the high-speed railways bridge the distance between people. It greatly develops people's lives.
