Saving the environment is actually quite simple, when you come to think about it. It does not have to be a problem. If you and everyone follow these tips, you are helping save the environment easily.

Switch off the lights when you leave the room. By now you have probably wasted thousands of watts (瓦特) lightening your room 1 you weren't there. If you work on a home office, this habit is not only bad for the environment, but also for your pocket.

Turn off the computer when possible. If you know that you will be 2 for four hours or more, turning it off could lead to large savings over the long run.

Print only when necessary. Sure, reading on paper might be more comfortable, but you should avoid printing those two-line e-mails every time. Read it on the screen and print only necessary documents. Remember also to use 3 sides of the sheet.

Use fluorescent lamps (荧光灯). The fluorescent lamps may 4 more in the stores, but within the time you use one, you should have already recovered the investment. A normal incandescent light bulb (白炽灯泡) lasts 750 hours but a fluorescent bulb will give off the same amount of light yet last for 7,500 to 10, 000 hours with 1/3 of the wattage.

Use low-flush (冲洗) toilets. In your household, 40% of the pure water is flushed down the toilet. You can 5 this easy way at home; use small plastic bottles, filled with water or stones to displace (置换) the amount of water in toilets. This will make it a "low-flush toilet", or you can use a displacement bag in your tank, which might reduce 1-2 gallons per flush.

Liu Shuangrui, a 15-year-old boy from Liaoning, started to wear glasses at the age of 5. Twenty-five of 38 students in Liu's class wear glasses. Does this sound anything like your class? In fact, about 60 percent of Chinese teenagers are near-sighted (近视的). China has the world's most near-sighted people: the number of near-sighted people became 700,000,000 in 2021, and now it's even larger.

"This is mainly because of the overuse of the eyes when people are studying or working," Wang Ningli, head of a famous Beijing hospital once said. Now, many young people spend lots of time looking at computers or phones every day.

Many people know that reading in the dark light is bad for one's eyes. They try to read only under bright light. However, if the light is too bright, it can also have bad results for one's eyes.

Eating too much candy can do something bad for your eyes as well. Too much candy will result in losing vitamin (维生素) B1. Vitamin B1 is very important for your eyes.

It's not so hard to save eyesight as you expect. Almost everyone can try the following advice.

·Follow the 20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away from computers or phones you are using. Try not to put them too close to your eyes. Keep your eyes at least 20 cm away from the screens or the desks when you work or study.

·Do some outdoor activities every day.When you are outside, look at things far from you. In this way, your eyes can get relaxed. And getting more sunshine will be useful for your eyes.

B. 根据短文内容和所给中文提示,在空白处写出单词的正确形式。(每空限填一词)

A neighborhood party is a great way to raise money for a charity. You can also celebrate a holiday or get to know some {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (陌生人) in your neighborhood.

Before you begin, you first need to work out where to have the party. Community centers or your {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(私密的) garden are often available for it. It could be a public and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(方便的) place like a park or a street.

Next, ask your friends and neighbors who are {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(有耐心的) to help. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (幽默的) volunteers are important for making sure the party runs successfully. Get plenty of people to help tell others about the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(地址) of the party, set up the party, and finally clean up after the party. All the volunteers take {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(骄傲、自豪) in all the work they do.

During the party, many activities are organized for kids so that they can enjoy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(他们自己). At most parties, people also like to {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(放置) out some food and drinks. The best parties are when everyone brings something to share. There's no better way to bring the community together and spread love and joy than to throw a party! It's really a special time to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(联系) with their neighbors.

Collecting scrapbooking (剪贴簿) is a kind of hobby. It is popular for more than 500 years. Some people call it a friendship book. They keep pictures, letters, poems and other things they want. Today people collect many things in scrapbooks. Some people have funny collections, like pictures of the world's most ugly dogs. Other people may collect stories about the bad weather.

To start your scrapbooking, first, you should decide what to collect. Start with just one idea. Next, you need a book with paper, scissors and glue. Then use the scissors to cut out the pictures or stories. At last use the glue to stick them to the background paper.

Scrapbooking is so popular these days. I think people want to record their family history and show it to other people. When I was a boy, I always saved bits of paper, things like movie tickets and holiday postcards. I made my first scrapbook for my grandfather ten years ago when he died. When I sat at his desk, I found some wonderful things like my grandfather's birthday cards and photos in the past, then I put them in the scrapbook. After that, I made two more scrapbooks for my brother and me with beautiful collections. I want to keep those happy and beautiful memories (记忆). That's the real meaning of scrapbooking.
