Mrs Lin: I have a 15-year-old daughter (女儿) named Mary. She is tall and slim with long hair and big eyes. She looks very beautiful. She can sing and dance very well. But she spends too much time on computer games. Sometimes she plays them without dinner. She does her homework quickly (很快地), but there are many mistakes (错误). She doesn't do well in her lessons now. When I talk to her, she doesn't listen to me! What shall I do?

Mrs Liu: My son Paul is a good boy. He studies hard and is good at all his lessons. But it's really difficult to stop my son from eating snacks. Between meals, he always eats some candy, cakes and ice cream. He is not very tall but looks very fat. I worry about his health. How can I help him?

Mrs Lee: My13-year-old boy, Jacky, is tall and thin. He is always a good student at school. But he doesn't exercise very often. He likes reading very much. He can read books in his bedroom for the whole day. He has few friends. I want him to go out to play with his classmates, but he often says, "I just want to read my books." What can I do?

    We need animals. Every animal has its place in the balance(平衡) of nature. We should try to help save the animals.

    Some people think zoos are good places. The zoos give the animals the comfortable and safe living places. If the animals get hurt or ill, people will take care of them. The zoo is a good place to know the rules in the wild world. We can be much closer to nature. We can know more about the animals in the zoos by watching, listening even smelling instead of just looking at the pictures in books.

    Some people don't think animals feel happy in the zoos. Animals like pandas, wolves and bears usually live in the wild. They play and find food by themselves. They are free and happy in the wild. If they are in the zoos, food is enough and rooms are comfortable. They do not need to do their best to find food to eat or places to stay in. They just walk around, sleep day and night, but they are not free at all.

    I think we should build national parks as wild life nature reserves to protect animals. If we do nothing, animals will get fewer and fewer.

    The Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition（世界园艺博览会）,which is running from

    April 29 to Oct 7, will be attended by 110 countries and international organizations. It has 41 outdoor exhibition centers that will host about 2,500 activities. It is expected to draw around 16 million visitors from home and abroad.

    The theme of the expo is "Live Green, Live Better", aiming to introduce the world to a green, innovative（创新的）and harmonious（和谐的）China. Flowers and herbs from all over the world will be displayed at the expo.

    In addition, wildflowers will also be a highlight at the expo.

    As we all know, the "rice bowl" culture of China has influenced some Asian countries such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam since we started to use chopsticks while eating food.

    Chopsticks are usually two long thin pieces of wood or bamboo. They can also be made of plastic, animal bone or metal. ⑴The most important thing is that chopsticks are a great invention in China.

    Five thousand years ago people usually cooked their food in large pots, using twigs (小树枝) to remove it.   ⑵    the population grew, people began cutting food into small pieces. ⑷Food in small pieces could be eaten easily with twigs by people. And twigs were gradually changed into chopsticks.

    Some people think that the famous scholar Confucius living from about 551 BC to 479 BC pushed the development of chopsticks. Confucius believed that using chopsticks instead of knives would remind people to stay away from killing and violence at table.
