American schools begin in September after a long summer holiday. There are two terms in a school year; the first term is from September to January, and the second is from February to June. Most American children begin to go to school when they are five years old. Most children are seventeen or eighteen years old when they finish high school.
High school students take only five or six subjects each term, they usually go to the same classes every day, and they have homework for every class. After class, they do a lot of interesting things.
After high school, many students go to colleges. They usually have to pay a lot of money. So many college students work after class to get money for their studies.
When you go on a trip, it's easier to get sick because your body isn't used to the food, water, and air in a new environment. Here are some tips on keeping your travel experience as healthy as possible.
Have safe foods and drinks.
So what foods are safe to eat? Any boiled food, fresh fruit and vegetables are safe for you. Peel(剥) the fruit before eating. You should try to drink only bottled (瓶装的) water when traveling. If you need to use tap water (自来水), you should boil it first.
Take some medicines.
You should also put some medicines in your bags, because they may be hard to find in another country. It's a good idea to always carry your medical history with you. This helps doctors well, and you won't have to worry about forgetting important information.
Basic Safety
You'll need to reset your thinking when it comes to traffic safety. The rules of the road aren't the same as they are at home. In some countries, people drive on the left side of the road, and you'll need to be careful before you cross the street. Be sure there are no cars coming when you step into the street: If there are, they may not stop for you!
