吉林省松原市2019届九年级下学期宁江区第三次模拟考试试卷

根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Kyra Komac, 28 years old, now has 25 furniture(家具)stores all over the country. The new store, in London's Camden High Street, takes her back to where it all started.  She tells us about how the business began.

"When I was little, my mother began selling flowers in Camden Market. She couldn't leave me at home on my own, so I had to go to the market with her. To begin with, I didn't have to do anything. I just sat there, and my mum told me jokes and stories so I didn't get bored. When I got older, I gave my mum a hand and I really enjoyed it."

"Then, one year, my grandma gave me a book for Christmas. It was all about making candles and I loved it. I was 14, and I didn't have to go to the market anymore because Mum could leave me at home on my own. I spent my free time making candles of all shapes and sizes. I made hundreds of them."

"One day, my mother was ill so I had to go to the market on my own. I decided to take some candles with me and see if I could sell them. They were sold out in twenty minutes! The next week, my mum gave me some money to buy some wax(蜡)to make more candles. They were sold out really quickly, too."

"Nine months later, we decided to stop selling flowers. My mum and I couldn't make enough candles during the week, so some of my school friends started to give us a hand. I paid them one pound for every candle, and we used to sell them for three or four times. It was fun and my friends worked with me in the market."

"At the age of 22, my uncle lent me some money and I opened my first shop in Portobello Road. Since then, I've never looked back, even in difficulties. In the first store,  we only sold candles, but now we sell everything from furniture to paintings. Oh, and candles,of course."

(1)、How many furniture stores does Kyra Komac have now?
(2)、Where did Kyra's mother sell flowers?
(3)、What did Kyra do in her free time when she was fourteen?
(4)、Who helped Kyra and her mum when they couldn't make enough candles?

Beijing has many charms. It is a perfect place to start exploring(探索) the wonders of the whole country. A four-day tour is possible to cover the greatest sights and enough to make you love the Chinese capital.

    Day 1

Any visit to Beijing is incomplete without a walk on the Great Wall. Most people choose to visit Badaling, but Juyong Pass is less crowded but more wonderful. There are many locations for great photos. Also, pick a clear day to go so that your eyes can reach the beacon tower(烽火台) far away.

    Day 2

First, start at the Temple of Heaven. Next, have lunch at Qianmen Street, enjoying the famous Peking Duck. Then, spend a whole afternoon in the Tian'anmen square, the largest city square in the whole world.

Many of us don't pay much attention to the importance of eye care. It is said that if you take care of your body, then you can surely be healthy. That is why our eyes should be given a lot of care. Natural eye care should be put in a number one place.

There are several causes leading to poor eyesight(视力)like not enough food, genes(基因)and aging(变老).Televisions, computers and reading are also the causes of having poor eyesight. If you work in front of the computer, it is best to take a break every once in a while. Something dirty can cause redness and they will make you feel uncomfortable. It is bad for your eyes, too. If this happens, you'd better clean your eyes with cold water. You must also try your best to protect your eyes from harmful things. For example, sunglasses are not just for fashion but they can also be used as a great way to protect your eyesight from UV rays(射线).

Eating healthy foods will do good to your eyesight. Remember that vitamins(维生素)A, C and E are good for eyes. Try to eat food groups that have these vitamins. And you should do eye exercises because exercise protects your eyesight, too. If a person often exercises and eats the right kind of food, his eyes will stay in good condition for a long time.

All above are natural ways of eye care that help us keep healthy eyes. In a word, eye care is very important, no matter how old a person is.

We need animals. Every animal has its place in the balance(平衡) of nature. We should try to help save the animals.

Some people think zoos are good places. The zoos give the animals the comfortable and safe living places. If the animals get hurt or ill, people will take care of them. The zoo is a good place to know the rules in the wild world. We can be much closer to nature. We can know more about the animals in the zoos by watching, listening even smelling instead of just looking at the pictures in books.

Some people don't think animals feel happy in the zoos. Animals like pandas, wolves and bears usually live in the wild. They play and find food by themselves. They are free and happy in the wild. If they are in the zoos, food is enough and rooms are comfortable. They do not need to do their best to find food to eat or places to stay in. They just walk around, sleep day and night, but they are not free at all.

I think we should build national parks as wild life nature reserves to protect animals. If we do nothing, animals will get fewer and fewer.

History is still a compulsory (必修的) subject at lower levels and pupils still choose to study it at higher levels. However, there is an outgoing discussion about whether schools should continue to teach history. This passage will deal with the arguments that oppose and support teaching history in school, concluding that we should teach history, because the value of the subject goes beyond the classroom.

First of all, many pupils suggest that history is one of the less interesting school subjects and that governments should spend the time and money on subjects that are more useful. Some people argue that math and English are should spend the money on more important so we can have a society with a good basic education. Other people say that teaching science, as this can move a country forward and benefit the economy. However, when we teach history, we are just looking back at the past. The economic benefits of this area are less obvious.

On the other hand, there are several reasons why it is a good idea to teach history. Teaching history is important because students should be able to understand the background to current issues in the news. This will create better-informed citizens. Another reason is that it helps pupils to understand the culture and background of the society they live in. In addition to learning about the past, history teaching can help students to think for themselves. Finally, it also improves pupils' reading and writing skills, which can help them become better students.

In conclusion, though there are clearly arguments on both sides, it seems to me that we should of the classes. I would say the teaching of history helps to create well-educated generation.
