We live in a society that is producing and using electronics（电子产品）all the time. What happens (A) ____your computers, MP3 players and cell phones when they're broken or you want a new one?

Most people just throw them away. In 2014, people around the world produced 41.8 million tons of electronic waste and only recycled 6.5 million tons, according to the United Nations last month.

It's important to pay (B)           to e-waste. It can be either valuable or harmful, depending on how we treat it. If people throw it away, the toxic（有毒的）chemicals can get into the soil or air, affecting the environment and people's health.

To help reduce e-waste, the first thing we can do is to buy longer lasting electronic equipment. If you have unwanted electronics such as old toys or cell phones, find a new home for (C) them by giving them to charities. At the same time, (D) you can take computers and phones to the producers to see if they offer recycling programs. Apple, for instance, now offers people a discount（折扣）in China if they hand in their used electronics when buying new ones. The company will test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices.

    As we all know, the "rice bowl" culture of China has influenced some Asian countries such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam since we started to use chopsticks while eating food.

    Chopsticks are usually two long thin pieces of wood or bamboo. They can also be made of plastic, animal bone or metal. ⑴The most important thing is that chopsticks are a great invention in China.

    Five thousand years ago people usually cooked their food in large pots, using twigs (小树枝) to remove it.   ⑵    the population grew, people began cutting food into small pieces. ⑷Food in small pieces could be eaten easily with twigs by people. And twigs were gradually changed into chopsticks.

    Some people think that the famous scholar Confucius living from about 551 BC to 479 BC pushed the development of chopsticks. Confucius believed that using chopsticks instead of knives would remind people to stay away from killing and violence at table.

    We enjoy our delicious food with our family members or friends while feeling the peaceful and people-loving world by using chopsticks at table anytime.

    Typing(打字) is one of the most important and basic work skills of the 21st century. Because mobile phones are now so popular, there is a new kind of typing-thumbing. Thumbing means people use one or more thumbs(拇指) to touch the keys.

    Most people can type between 20 and 35 words a minute. Some typists, however, can work very quickly, at more than 110 words a minute. And people's left hand usually does 56 percent of the typing.

    The most common international English keyboard is QWERTY. People name it after the first letters on the top left side of the keyboard. It is more than 140 years old. Other keyboards include QWERTZ (in Central Europe) and AZERTY (used by most French speakers in Europe). Countries with non-Roman alphabets(字母系统), such as, Arabia, Russia or Japan, have their own keyboards.

    People practise the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" to make their typing better. That's because it uses every letter of the English alphabet.

    Thumbing and typing can hurt you. RSI (repetitive strain injury) is the name of a medical condition you get if you type too much. However, most people do not understand what RSI is or how serious it can be. Anyone who uses a computer a lot is at risk and should know about RSI.
