Typing(打字) is one of the most important and basic work skills of the 21st century. Because mobile phones are now so popular, there is a new kind of typing-thumbing. Thumbing means people use one or more thumbs(拇指) to touch the keys.

Most people can type between 20 and 35 words a minute. Some typists, however, can work very quickly, at more than 110 words a minute. And people's left hand usually does 56 percent of the typing.

The most common international English keyboard is QWERTY. People name it after the first letters on the top left side of the keyboard. It is more than 140 years old. Other keyboards include QWERTZ (in Central Europe) and AZERTY (used by most French speakers in Europe). Countries with non-Roman alphabets(字母系统), such as, Arabia, Russia or Japan, have their own keyboards.

People practise the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" to make their typing better. That's because it uses every letter of the English alphabet.

Thumbing and typing can hurt you. RSI (repetitive strain injury) is the name of a medical condition you get if you type too much. However, most people do not understand what RSI is or how serious it can be. Anyone who uses a computer a lot is at risk and should know about RSI.

Your body is special—no two people in the world are the same. Although you are different from everyone else, you have exactly the same body parts as the people around you, doing different jobs that keep all of us alive.

    What is inside my head?

Your head holds the most valuable part of your body in it—your brain. As you are reading, your eyes send pictures to your brain which makes meaning from what you see. Your brain helps you to remember and think, and makes sure your body is doing what it should do.

    What is my skin for?

Your skin covers your body. In most parts of your body, the skin is just as thick as 0.5cm.If you cut your skin, it will have a quick cure(治愈)and stop viruses(病毒)from getting into your body. Your skin also helps you feel the heat and coldness of the environment around you. Hair grows from inside the skin. When you feel hot, extra heat comes out through your skin. As a result, your body temperature drops.

    How do I move?

Muscles(肌肉) are found in most parts of your body. They work with your bones to help you move— whenever you cry or smile, eat or speak, walk or dance, etc.

    What does my heart do?

Your heart is a very special muscle. It is a little bigger than your fist(拳头)and grows bigger as you do. If you place your hand on your heart, you will feel your heart beating which pushes blood to move around your body.

For most of us, the days are divided into day and night. But for two months each winter in Northern Norway (挪威), it's dark for 20 hours a day. There is no sunrise or sunset because the sun never gets above the horizon (地平线) .

Would you like to live in darkness for this long? It may seem difficult, but many people in Norway love the beautiful colors of these months.

To the south are the red and gold colors of the horizon. To the north, the sky is a special blue. Even the moon and the stars look blue. In the towns, the lights in the streets shine like little yellow diamonds.

People do need light to be healthy and happy. Since they don't have much daylight during this time of the year, they exercise and eat foods with vitamins (维生素) A and D, people usually get energy from being in the sun.

And darkness doesn't stop people there from having a good time. Each winter, some people are skiing on hills and skating on ponds that are lit up. Others are going to film and music festivals And other people are spending time with friends in cafes and restaurants. Of course, not everyone is so active in the dark months. Many people are just going to sleep a little earlier until the sun returns in spring.
