      I need some advice on how to make friends! I have just moved to a new city. I am 13. I don't know anybody here and I want to make some friends. What's the best way? Where can I meet people?

     There are lots of things you can do. First, you can ride your bike in your neighbourhood and try to find some kids. When you find some, you can go up and talk to them. You should also let your parents know that you want to make friends because they can help you. Maybe you can ask your parents to take you to the library or some places where there are lots of kids. You could try joining an art class or a sports club. These are all great ways to meet people. You can also try making friends at churches (教堂) if you go to churches on Sundays. Try to be active wherever you are, but just be yourself and don't try so hard. It takes time and patience. I hope you will find a best friend soon!

If you're sitting near a door, make sure you know how to open it if you need to. What's more, don't forget to keep your seat belt fastened(系牢) .

    We had a terrible school trip last week．Some students were late．Then we waited half an hour for the school bus，but it didn't arrive. In the end，the teacher took us by subway．It took over an hour．When we arrived at the zoo，we were all tired and hungry．We wanted to see elephants．but there weren't any．There were some really smart seals(海豹)，but we didn't see the show．We arrived too late．We forgot our cameras，so we didn't take any photos．Then it started to rain，and nobody had an umbrella．So we went for lunch and ate some pizza．My friends had some ice-cream，too．I didn't have any because I don't like it．We didn't see many animals because it rained．Finally we went back to school．We were wet and tired．I didn't enjoy my school trip at all!

    Mr Perkin stood at the bus-stop and watched the cars go by. Many of the car were new Beta 400s, and most of them were yellow. Mr Perkin always wore the same clothes as other men, ate the same food as other people, and did the same things after work, and at the end of the week, Mr Perkin did not like to be different.The following week, Mr Perkin bought a new, bright yellow Beta 400s. He was satisfied with it, and drove to work in it the very next day. He was even more satisfied with his new car, when he saw all the other Beta 400s, in front, behind, and on both sides of him.He likes the feeling of being the same.Mr Perkin parked(停车) his car in a big car-park(停车场) near his office, and walked the rest of the way. But when he came back at five o'clock, there were so many bright yellow Beta 400s in the car-park that he did not know which car was his. He tried his key in some of the cars, but people passing by gave him a look he didn't like. So he stopped. Time went by.Poor Mr Perkin had to wait nearly two hours until his was the only yellow.Beta 400s in the car-park. After he got back home, he felt frustrated and thought to himself that maybe being different is not so bad.

    On March 14, one of science's brightest stars went dark. Stephen Hawking, the world-famous British scientist, died at 76 in Cambridge, UK. 霍金是历史上最伟大的科学家之一。 He came up with the theory that the universe (宇宙) began with the Big Bang (大爆炸) and will end in black holes. Hawking has great scientific achievements. He is also a man with strong will.

    When Hawking was 21, a serious illness stopped him from walking and talking. Later in life, he had to sit in a wheelchair and "speak" using a computerized voice. But this didn't stop him from living a meaningful and colorful life. "If one is physically disabled (身体残疾), one cannot afford to be psychologically (心理上) disabled as well," he once said.

    Father's Day is a very new festival in British compared with Mother's Day, which has been a very popular festival in the UK for a long time.

    Father's Day started in America in the world. Once there was a man called William Smith, whose wife died and he had to raise (供养) six children by himself. His daughter thought when she grew up what her father had done for them. So she thought that there should be a Father's Day. Later, the festival was born, falling on the third Sunday every June.

    Britain took the idea of Father's Day from the USA. What do British people do for Father's Day? Well, most people would buy cards for their fathers. The card would have a nice message in it. Some people do buy presents as well. Popular gifts for Dads are probably ties, chocolates or socks because these are things that Dads can always use even if (即使) they don't want them.

As a special treat, British people might give their Dad a bit of rest—make him a cup of tea, or even wash his car to make him feel really relaxed.
