    Where I'm from, we're pretty relaxed①_______time. We don't like to rush around. So we don't mind if people are a little late sometimes. If you tell a friend you're going to their house for dinner, it's OK if you arrive a bit late. We like to enjoy our time slowly. We value the time we spend with our family and friends in our everyday lives. We often just drop by our friend's homes if we have time. We don't usually have to make plans to meet our friends .When we see each other, it's polite for boys to slake hands and for girls to kiss each other on the side of the face. We often just walk around the town center, seeing as many of our friends as we can!

    In Switzerland, it's very important to be on time. We are the capital of clocks and watches, after all! If someone invites you to meet him or her at noon, then you're expected to be there at noon. If you're even 15 minutes late,③你的朋友可能会发疯，So I make an effort to be on time when I meet my friends. I always leave the house early to avoid heavy traffic because I think it's impolite to keep others②_________.Also, we never visit a friend's house without calling first. We almost always make plans to see friends. We usually plan to do some interesting things, or go somewhere together.

    Once a king got two nice falcons(猎鹰) from his son. He had never seen such beautiful falcons before. He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.

    After several months, the king came to see how the training was going on. He found that one falcon had already been able to fly high in the sky, while the other one was staying on the branch(树枝) of a tree quietly without moving.

    The king called all his falconers together and ordered them to try every way they could to make it fly. But none of them succeeded. One day, while the king was taking a walk in the forest, an idea came to his mind. He decided to find someone who knew the natural environment well to solve the problem. Then he sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.

    The next morning, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely. "It is unbelievable!" shouted the king. "How could you make it happen?"

    The farmer replied, "It's very easy. I just cut off the branch where the falcon rested."

    It is always the same to humans. We all have "two flying wings in our hearts as well, but we often seem not to notice them and stay where we feel safe and comfortable. We won't realize we can fly so high and freely until the "branch" we are resting on breaks.

    An old lady walked into a clothes shop. She asked the salesgirl to show her a new dress in the shop window. The girl stood behind the counter, taking no notice of the request (要求) . The old lady asked again, but she still received no answer. Then the old lady said to herself, "I'm too old to see well. I can't even tell a plastic (塑料的) model from a real girl."

    When the girl heard this, she shouted. "What did you say? Did you say that I am a plastic model?" The lady was greatly surprised. She said to herself, "The model can speak! It must be a robot of a new type."

    On Nov. 18, 1908, three men went up in a balloon. They started early in London. The headman was Augusta Gaudron, and the other two men were Tannar and Maitland. They had a big balloon and they were ready for a long way.

    Soon they heard the sea. They carried a usual rope, and it was hanging down from the basket of the balloon. At the end of the rope they had tied(系) a metal box. This could hold water, or it could be empty. So they were able to change its weight. It was for use over the sea. They also carried some bags of sand.

    After the Sun rose, the balloon went higher. It went up to 3,000 metres, and the air was very cold. The water in the box became ice. Snow fell past the men's basket, and they could see more snow on the ground. The men tried to throw out some more sand; but it was hard. They tried to break the icy sand with their knives, but it was not easy. The work was slow and they were still falling, so they had to drop(投下) some whole bags of sand.

    One of them fell on an icy lake and made a black hole in the ice.

At last they pulled the box into the basket. They rose to 5, 100 metres! Everything became icy. They were so cold that they decided to land. They came down in Poland safely. They had travelled 1,797 kilometres from London!

    One day Bill's friend Tom says to him, "I am going to have a birthday party on Sunday evening. Bill, can you come to my party?" "I'll be glad to," answers Bill.

    Before Bill goes to the party on Sunday afternoon, his mother says to him, "Now, Bill, don't forget to be polite(礼貌的). Don't ask for food until(直到) someone gives it to you. "

    "All right, Mum," Bill answers. And (A) he goes to Tom's house on his new bike.

    (B) There are a lot of children at the party. They play for an hour. Then Tom's mother gives them some food. But she forgets to give Bill any. (C) Bill waits politely for ten minutes and then holds his plate up(举起他的盘子) in the air and says loudly(高声地), "Does anyone want a nice and clean plate? "
