A teacher decided to let her class play a game.She told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag with a few big potatoes.Each potato was given the name of a person that the child hated，so the number of potatoes that a child put in his or her plastic bag depended on the number of people he or she hated.

When the day came，every child brought some potatoes with the names of the people he or she hated.Some had two potatoes，some three while some had up.to five potatoes.The teacher then told the children to carry the potatoes in the plastic bag with them wherever they went.

Days after days passed，and the children started to complain（抱怨） because of the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten（腐烂的） potatoes.Besides，those having as many as five potatoes also had to carry heavier bags.After weeks，the children were very happy because the game had finally ended.

In China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a reunion time for family. Chinese people celebrate it by having dinners together, watching the moon, lighting paper lanterns, eating mooncakes and so on.

This Festival has a history of over 3,000 years. People watched the moon to give thanks for the harvest (收获). Now, most people have enough food to eat, but the Mid-Autumn Festival is still meaningful because the full moon during the festival is a symbol (象征) of family reunions. As time goes by, it has wishes (祝愿) for good health and happiness.

 What do you think is the most important invention in the last 1 ,000 years? Many people say that it's the printing press that allows us to print copies or books. Why is the printing press so important in human history?

 Before the printing press was invented, books were copied by hand. An ancient Roman book trader sometimes sold as many as 5,000 copies of a book that had been copied by slaves(奴隶). However, copying a book took so much time and was so expensive. As a result, usually only a small part of the people learned to read and owned books.

 In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg from Germany invented the modern printing press. The influence of his machine is sometimes compared to the invention of the Internet. Gutenberg's printing press was easy to use with languages such as English that had alphabetic(字母的) words. After 1450, thousands of copies of a book or a newspaper could be made quickly and cheaply. A great number of books and newspapers with ideas and pictures from all over the world came out.

 Reading has stimulated amazing changes in science and technology. We' ve learned how to  make money and even travel to far places. Computers, mobile phones, and the Internet have grown because millions of readers were created by the printing press.

 Since 1450, more and more people have become readers. These readers help the world to make progress at a fast speed.
