A gift in a wrong place brings unexpected happiness. 

Since 1cameto my new neighborhood，1 have been glad to meet a few neighbors. They seem to be quite1 people. For Christmas, I thought I would do2 nice for each of the neighbors that I know. I sat down and counted. 

There were nine neighbors, and I also knew which houses they lived in.

However, I decided to3 one more person to my list, the lady I met every morning walking to work as I drove down the street. She always smiled at me,4 I had no idea which house she lived in.

My gift idea was to make small5 baskets and leave them on each of my neighbors' front porches (门廊) on the night of Christmas Eve. I kept the last one for the friendly lady, since I was still not sure where she lived — 6 the house where I met her each morning. Finally, I decided to put it there. My neighbors really enjoyed the baskets and a couple even came by to7 me.

 Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

Last weekend, my parents and I went snowboarding in a village. Early in the morning, we were standing on the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of a mountain." I can't wait {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. See you later at the hotel!" shouted Mom, and she quickly went down the mountain. Dad and I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} carefully for many times before we get started. But when we got to the hotel, we found Mom wasn't there. Dad said {#blank#}4{#/blank#} but took out his phone and called Mom, only to find Mom has hurt her foot and can't walk.

In the end, Dad and I found Mom at the foot of the hill. She was cold and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} she was in the Arctic(北极) .

" Sorry, but I know: We must walk before we run," said Mom.

 Sam Smith has always been a hard-working student. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(然而), it was difficult for him to study English at the beginning of the term, and he was trying to catch up with his {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(问班同学). He was not good at speaking at first, but he tried to take an active part in the English class and have English {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(交谈) with his friends and me. During the break, I often saw him read English books, which helped him have a{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(宽阔的) view of the world. So I'm very pleased that at the end of this term, Sam Smith {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(改善) greatly and came top of our class.
